So where did this come from? For some time now in the background we have been working on a new interface. It will do input and output on separate boards. Alpha work is done on the input boards and we have a functioning interface with software. It is now time to look for some input from real world users. We are working on keeping cost down on this interface. If you are interested in being a Beta tester please send a PM to Tyler Reed or myself (no relation LOL ) We are getting ready to place an order for some beta input boards now.

Unusual Approach to cockpit building.

I had the opportunity to meet Axel (N737AG), member here, at the latest FDS Simfest and talk about his fairly original concept . The above picture will probably disturb some of us, because Axel  only kept the Bottom part of that 737 nose and let the top GO....TO THE CRUSHER.
His idea, well documented on his site, was to extract only the base plateform with  all moving parts and linkages of the real bird, to be interfaced later, after a complete restore.
As he said: "  from the cockpit floor down ,including TQ, seats, yokes and pedals it is a real 737,  from the cockpit floor up it is all new FDS  parts."

The big plus, versus a complete Nose, is that all this gear is easily accessible to work on. Setting the plateform vertically allowed him a far better access compared with crawling under, or recreating from above all the linkages with ordinary non aerospace material. All the supports, attachments, reinforcements are already in place. Basically it is just a matter of "unbolting, cleaning, and reinstalling all that neat gear".

According to Axel, "all these moving parts are amazingly well designed and built,  from start, and it is extremely comfortable to work with. Realistic feel garanteed!

"The rest of the cockpit , MIP, Overhead, Liners, Shell..etc  and all the electronics are available brand new,and fit perfectly together as they originate from the same supplier.
No headaches, filing , cutting, adapting, reaching out, over and under".
As mentionned earlier, this is an clean and unconventional approach but when you think of it, it makes sense!
Please check his site and numerous pictures . Well done Axel!!

New section added in the Forum list.

Wanted items

The idea is to briefly list what items you are looking for, wether it is an avionics panel, double decker knobs, fire handles, specific gauges, sheepskin cover, etc ,etc, so that those of us who have time and inclination to trawl Ebay daily can send you a Private mail to alert you personally instead of advertising the item to the world on the Forum.

Of course we all have some extra parts, and that section  should also help
finding a new home for those dusty parts. But the main goal is to alert each other when a wanted part is available on EBay.

This post remains open for comments or suggestions.
Please start listing your needs in the wanted section

I had the opportunity to test this new generation CDU coupled with the Sim Avionics software and the whole package is more than impressive.
I have the previous version of this CDU which I like (..liked !?) very much but  I must say that this one is a big step ahead.
VGA LCD , razor sharp image, super wide angle of view and high resolution .
All metal bezel and new keys make it closer than ever to the real stuff, and the new VGA screen is the real plus. The unit is self contained in a neat package and can be used as a desktop
device or integrated in a CDU bay using Dzus rails. Plug and Play at its best.
Actually the best feature is that its price remains the same as the previous version even if this unit is far more advanced.
List of main  features  from FDS:

-  VGA LCD (800x600 Resolution!)
-  All Metal Construction (Bezel and Structural Components)
-  Dual Use Design (Drop in DZUS Rail Compliant and/or Desktop)
-  New Dimpled Injection Moulded Keys
-  PnP with Sim-Avionics, Project Magenta. Open Source Interface for Simple Integration with other   CDU Software (SDK Required)
-  Dimmable Key Brightness
-  Dimmable LCD Display Brightness
-  Super Realistic Tactile Feel Keys (With Audible Click)
-  Includes Power Supply (VGA and USB Cables required)
-  Lead Time: 2-3 Weeks (Effective July 1 + Orders)
-  $995.95CAD

This software works with FS9 and FSX. All systems are simulated in their slightest details. Can be used with or without hardware and Works with FSUIPC and WideFS for networked applications. OpenGL graphic interface, No programming needed. This software, developed here in Canada, should be available very shortly. Incredibly detailed..up to the windows heating systems variables reacting to the weather! Check the software page/details.
