That Annoying 400Hz Tone
« on: October 10, 2017, 01:05:11 AM »
First it was mood-lighting, now it's an annoying 400Hz tone....

Regardless, it's a part of my sound system now. Been taking a few swings at this lately but finally had some success with it when I injected the tone not into the intercom Mic or headset, but into the intercom ground plane.  Key the mic, get the tone, faint as it is. (Even the guys over at PilotEdge said it sounded good.. but annoying. :-)

Tone is generated as a 400Hz square wave (using a Teensy 3.5) which closely mimics the tone on the flight deck. It's on when either the left or right PTT buttons are pressed.

Just use real parts then no need to "inject" the signal.  ;)   I get that comment all the time on how real it sounds on PE.  Makes me laugh.
