Hey Guys,

Glad to see you're getting things done during this time of the year, where everything pulls us away from building...like nice weather, vacations and such.

Even though things have been crazy for Karen and I; especially, with all the previous winter weather, now too much darn rain, we managed to get the projector screen stand made. Well, the local welding shop did it for us, using the specs from my previous homemade built stand. Got it home this past Friday.

Took just a few days. And, it's made to be taken a part into 3 sections. We just have to clean and paint it, then mount the screen.  :idiot:

So, without wanting to raise expectations I am messing about at the moment with some code which could develop into something which is an alternative to WideView and WideTraffic.

The WideView alternative is working nicely; on my setup at least it seems that using the PDK (which is a lower level hook into P3D) rather than SimConnect leads to a much smoother experience.

I also have (in an early alpha phase) some code which syncs Airline and Ground traffic across networked P3D instances. It is performing OK, and includes GSX created objects, but there are some limitations. In particular GSX looks to me like it is using some custom code, enabled by the P3D SDK, to animate some of the objects, and this leads to some odd depictions when using my code. (For example the pushback truck ends up oriented at 90 degrees to the aircraft). I'm very much an amateur at this and learning as I go along, so it may be that I can resolve this.

I have no desire for this to be commercial, so I am considering uploading the codebase onto GitHub. Are there any other C++ / C# coders out there who would be interested in contributing?

Keep in mind that we are talking "simulation" here.....in our case the exact details of motor operation in the real thing are largely "simulated" via the software script programming.

I think Hugo's question in that regard is more basic and is addressed to the actual mechanical operation of fitting in motors......

I am not familiar with the Jetmax TQ design.  However....If the existing lever operation involves a rotating disk the motorized conversion should be conveniently possible.  If the design is a simple lever connected to a pot then the conversion would be more complex.....it would be limited to a servo motor type of arrangement which is not the ideal.

I have engineered such both ways in my experience.

Anything is possible though.

Well, don't overthink it. I fly 744's for a living and the auto throttle is a single motor that moves all the levers together, staying in position by friction between them until they hit the stops. So if you had the levers not aligned, they stay that way until the stops are hit. Also, on the 400, if the levers are close enough, the FADEC corrects the mismatch.
I say this because I've seen builders use motors for each lever and that is just more complicated than the real thing.

737s have one motor per engine, different to the 744 setup, although they do use the same gearbox, just 2 of them.

I have not read of any solutions to this. And when I spoke with GSX folks they said the audience for this solution is so small they would not commit time to do it.  That was last year, hopefully we can bend their ear a little more at FlightSim Expo this next month.

Found and purchased a set of OEM chronometers, the OEM gear handle, and the FDAS panel for the future cockpit door.

Worked on wiring.
