Worldflight DST Time Change!
« on: October 03, 2014, 02:28:26 PM »
Hey Guys,

Need you all to chime in here on what we do.

I know UTC/ZULU TIME DOESN'T CHANGE... So before anyone jumps on me, I thought I would mention that. With that being said I converted the Worldflight Schedule to EST to make it easier for us to decode the times quickly.  Now here is the rub.

All the times on the schedule were GMT - 5 Hours, but turns out we won't change the clocks until 2am on the Sunday Morning. (We will already be flying) So here is the thing.

Do we just leave the times an hour out, so in essence we will depart an hour late for the first and second flight, and then we will get our hour back when the time change happens? or do I change the schedule to suit.

This whole time stuff hurts my head.  Can someone else take a look at that and let me know if that even sounds right?  LOL.

Everyone set their watch to Zulu time and use that as your departure time.

Yes leave things as they are... It is only 2 flights. I want a Zulu clock this year just because...... I will see if I can find one.

This is not a big deal....

Correct SRQ local time (EDT) for WF #1401 departure is 19:00.

Correct SRQ local time (EDT) for WF #1402 departure is 23:00.

(So make those changes in the schedule)

Then we simply remember to set our watches/clocks back 1 hour at 2:00am on Sunday morning.

All other times on Trev's schedule are then correct (calibrated to EST).

The following conversion link is handy to use to double check things:

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html

My watch only displays one kind of time so I do not want to confound things with setting it to Zulu....that will screw me up for sure.

It would be advisable to have a clock in the sim control area set to Zulu time though.

Perfect Fred. That's the answer I was looking for. Anyone who remembers the little Zulu clock we had last year was even wrong. That's why I was setting everything to srq time.

In any case I will make the change you suggested.

Fred,

My watch displays about 10 different times but it's so darn complex I have to get the book out just to change it for DST, CST.  You'd think it would do that itself...well maybe it does, I just don't know how to make it to do it.

I used to be such a techno geek, now as I have gotten old I'm becoming electronically challenged

You younger guys, just you wait!
