Mounting an overhead help
« on: September 23, 2017, 04:36:42 AM »
Ive obtained a sismo fwd overhead and am looking for ideas on how to mount this.

My sim is in my loft with a pitched roof so I need to fix this from the rafters as I don't have a cockpit frame.

I was thinking of hanging down 4 braces and fixing these to the 4 screws around the sides of the overhead.

http://m.builderdepot.co.uk/speed-pro-600mm-heavy-duty-restraint-strap-twist-at-100mm-galvanised.html

However whenever I look at cockpit frames, overheads seem to be fixed on their back. Is there a reason for this.

Any suggestions on how I should do this?

Mark, Claus Hansen has his attached to his roof. Take a look to his site if you haven't already. He's always willing to help out as well.

Simple reason for swinging mounting - you eventually will need to open and access the overhead for some maintenance. Even if that's "turnkey" solution from Sismo or any other company.

see my overhead for example:

Agreed, you will at some point want and need to open it. Very important to have access. Think a head and build it in.
