Stripped screw OEM panel
« on: October 02, 2018, 07:31:13 AM »
Murphys law! Why cant anything be easy.
These old 737 panel are just a pain to work with when it comes to loosen screws.

I have destroyed one screw, watched youtube titorial on how to drill out a stripped screw but nothing works and its impossible to get some force while screwing sue to the shape of the panel.

Also, anyone know what these metalrods are called?

I plan to replace all of them with the same length. Anyone know what screwsize and partnumber / name to search for?

Thanks

Just because i posted i was able to get the screw out!
I just put another drillbit on and hit it gently with a hammer, then i was able to rotate it.

But one question remains:

What are these called and are they easy to get at fair prices?

In oem building there's almost no such thing as fair prices :P

These things are called standoffs.

Depending on where they are used, the part numbers differ.

Ummm....its a stand-off. Nothing special to aviation. Measure the length and start searching.
