For sale! B737 home cockpit - mostly OEM parts!
« on: November 14, 2018, 04:02:31 AM »
Hi
Due to an unforeseen change in my life, I will need to sell my beloved home cockpit. I spent many years collecting parts and meticulously restoring and assembling it. Its very hard for me to do.
I am not looking into making money, but rather see the parts go to another caring builder. For most of the items, I dont really care what they sell for. There are however some parts (mainly the OEM parts including a real converted motorised TQ, seats, awesome OEM overhead and other items) that I spend lots and lots of money and would like to recover at least some of the cost. How do you even put a price on these?
There are so many parts and component of this sim that I wont be able to mention them all here. I will take photos and try to describe the items as good as possible in follow up posts.
Happy if someone want to buy it as a whole sim, but I am also realistic that probably wont happen.
Here is the only issue... I am located in Australia. I am happy to ship, but the costs will be on the buyer.
This post is just to introduce this topic and acts as therapy for me. I really am sad about this.
More to follow soon.
Ethan

Hi Ethan,

This is Marcos from Miami, I'm a MD-80 instructor looking to buy a sim for my personal use. I'm going to be typed in the 737 soon, also I have two child and I hope someday I can teach them on the sim.
We can talk offline (myanezt@gmail.com) and see if we can make a deal.

Regards

Hi again.
I have taken many pictures of the sim and its components.

Firstly what it consists of:

Prosim 737 license
FDS MIP and FDS MIP hardware wired to both FDS card and Phidget cards (for higher voltage items) - All working, even dimmers
FDS integrated backlighting - All working with dimming
OEM landing gear lever with solenoid to Phidget card - working
FDS glareshield
FDS MX MCP (latest version) with dual EFIS - working
Flyengravity ethernet CDU - working
Custom made rudder pedals - working
Custom made linked yokes - linking cable broken, otherwise working.
OEM 737 throttle quadrant. Meticulously restored and updated to NG specs by Northern Flightsim in USA. Motorised throttle levers, trim wheels, speedbrake and trim indicators. All with working lightplates - everything works (awesome piece of kit)
IPECO cockpit seats with custom J-Rails
Swing down forward and aft overhead panels (Too much to say about this, will require a separate post - mostly OEM panels. Working backlights. All switches OEM)
Custom timber platform.

Here are some general pictures. I will go into detail of each part with more pictures later.

Price.... thats hard. Im open to offers. Both as a whole and for individual parts.

About the throttle quadrant..
Its a real 737 TQ. I was told its from a 737-500, but cant be sure. It was restored and changes to NG specs by Art from Northern FlightSim in the USA. It has all original levers, lightplates , wheels and switches.
The throttle levers connect via pushrods to clutches driven by two high quality DC motors. This is interfaced via Pololu feedback cards to the sim. All works very well.
The trim wheels runs with a DC motor via a phidgets motor card.
The trim indicator and speedbrake lever is motorised via servos and phidget servo cards.
Parking brake is a 12V light
The lightplates are all in perfect working condition.
All swithces work. Its a heavy solid unit.

I have interfaced it to a module behind the MIB where the interface cards are located (both the TQ and MIB cards together). I can supply the cards with the unit, but you may have to rewire the unit to the cards. THat will be easy.

This is by far the most expensive part in the sim. I pays lots and lots of money for it. If I can recover just some of it, Ill be happy.
I am thinking AUD5000 (USD 3700) - that is a good price.

Other components include:

FDS MX MCP with dual EFIS
You can check out their website for details
Price: AUD 1000  (USD 750)

Flyengravity CDU (verson 980CDU ethernet) with original packaging
Price AUD 1300 (USD 950)

2 IPECO cockpit seats with woolskin covers. Very clean. They came from an MD80 American Airlines. Attached to custom J-rails. The front legs had to be lengthened to fit. Captain's up-down lever broke, otherwise all working fine.
Price: Make an offer

The overhead.
Both the forward and aft frame are OEM with DZUS rails from a real aircraft.
Attached with swing down mounts onto FDS shell
Most of the panels are OEM units of which the back and internals have been stripped away. The switches, Korry annunciators, lightplates and mountings are real originals. All were cleaned and received new OEM caps (ordered from honeywell). All korry annunciations work and received new light bulbs. All lightplates were cleaned, patched up where the paintwork was off and tested. All work.
Panels that are not OEM (mostly the NG specific ones - see list below) are FDS panels with their backlighting system. The switches of these panels are acctual honeywell high end switches, exactly as the ones in the real aircraft.
Included are two Coles starter switches, tested to work.
The gauges are from simworld running on a CAN bus system. Most work, but I could never get the cabin alt gauge to work. Not sure why.

Interfacing all the items have not yet been completed. Who ever buys these panels, will still have to interface them. You will get a near exact OEM front and aft overhead panel with real switches and annunciations. Interfacing is up to you.

OEM panels:
Frames
Lights and engine start
Fuel
Flight controls
Standby power
Central panel with dimmers, wipers, ground call ect
Window heat
Anti-ice
Hyd pumps
Doors
Alt horn
Air packs
LE devices
IRS nav
Flight recorder
Radio panel

Remaining are FDS with real honeywell switches

Price: Not sure. This is a very unique and rare piece. Ill consider anything above AUD4000 (USD 3000).

Have a look at these pictures

The overheads and TQ are the two amazing parts. That TQ is piece of art.
