Since we recently touched some grounding issues in http://www.cockpitbuilders.com/community/index.php?topic=5236.msg38066;topicseen#new

maybe we also can discuss the related things.

Let's say many of us use aluminum shell from FDS.  Can anybody post the examples of grounding it in their sims?

Hi Nick,

For me, (Real Beech 99) I just connect every separate power supply, (24V or 12V, 5V, or anything for that matter) I always common all the power supplies somewhere to the Shell Frame.  I don;t know if I am asking for trouble or not, but I did have one issue with my USB Gnd having a potential difference to the power supply Gnd.  So what i did, Common the USB Powered Board to the same DC Gnd Rail in the cockpit.

Absolutely use the metal shell as your ground plane for DC and AC if your project uses it.  Here is the IMPORTANT part, run at least a 10gauge Ground from the shell to your house or shop earth ground.  Here in the states, Neutral and Earth Ground are one point in all of our homes. 

I wish I would have video taped the Ground Loop I had in my sim in the beginning so you guys would believe me. LOL  I had a PC power supply sitting on the bench NOT hooked to anything in my sim but I could still get power from into my sim!

Lol Rob I have seen some pretty strange things and if you saw some of my wiring jobs it would likely amaze you I don't have more troubles. Ha ha.

Either way I can totally bet we have all had some strange electron experiences.

Between the spaghetti the yellow/green wire to the cockpit floor and cockpit frame. The wire comes from the grounding of the house.

I hope this is sufficient ... ?

Yes this is sufficient, Just make sure all your power supply chassis are connected to this Bus and you should be good.
