Hi all

I am somewhat closer to setting up my helicopter controls
I wired up 1 potentiometer and hooked that to the X axis on Bodnar board went to the calibration tool had a play at calibration.

I unplugged the board and moved the pot to the y axis plugged the board back in and went to the game controller properties. The y axis showed up but when I went to the calibration tool the big calibration square didn't show up Do I need the X axis hooked up as well to be able to calibrate the Y axis

Cheers

You do, Bodnar board only recognises those axis that are connected.

Thanks iwik
I have my x axis sorted and the pedals just working on the y axis and throttle

I have placed chain on my rotating cyclic control and placed a sprocket which is 8 tooth and outside diameter of 24mm which is on the potentiometer shaft. I think what's happening is the potentiometer shaft rotation is less than the movement of the sprocket on the chain (if that makes sense) Maybe a sprocket with a larger outer diameter would shorten the rotating shaft movement?

Cheers

My cyclic and collective are both tied to either string pots or, what some people call, "shock absorber" style pots. No rotation, no chain, no pulleys. On the shock style pot, one end is connected to the sim frame, the other end to the wheel (in your case the sprocket) that rotates as the collective moves. The shock pot has a travel distance of 4 inches as the collective is lifted. Would be glad to send pics.

Hi
Cheers for that are using Leo's board?

PM me and I'll send you my email
I understand string potentiometers are more expensive

The movement of my sprocket for the elevator is about 30mm so not much

Rhys,

You can make cheap string pots yourself, Using a extending lanyard and a multi turn pot.
There can be small inconsistencies in the values, it depends how accurate it needs to be.

Or another option is to 3D print them:

Hi all

I am trying to calibrate my BU0836X 12-Bit Joystick Board in the windows calibration tool . When I set up the axis that are hooked up to the board the calibration tool ask you to press any botton to confirm but as the board has no buttons will it still calibrate correctly

Cheers

Once you've calibrated each axis just hit return.
