Title: Pedistal Box
Post by: Trevor Hale on October 10, 2009, 11:52:31 AM
Hey all.

I am looking for the best solution for 3-Bay 737 Pedistal box.. (With Fire Panel Bay) Any ideas on which suppliers make a standard Pedistal box.  Does not need DZUS Rails, I am happy to install my own metal brackets and drill them.

Alternatively, does anyone have detailed dimensions?

Open Cockpits makes one and looks like there is one available at Aviation Megastore:

I should note that I have placed 3 orders online with Aviation Megastore and their service and prompt shipment is superb.   I order something and it is at my doorstep within a week coming overseas.

and if you want one out of aluminium (powdercoated) with some more details, they have also this one:

Quite a bit more expensive though....sorry....

Thanks Scott,

And Stef..  Nice, you can see the difference though.  Would it not be cheaper if I ordered Directly from You and Robert?

The metal one is really nice.  It unfortunately says out of stock on that one so may want to order it direct anyway.

BTW, is CP Flight and Engravity related?  I just purchased the CP Flight EFIS and MCP not to long ago (EL version) and they are beauties!).  I was going to get OC radio stuff but with how I seen the CP Flight stuff working I think I will go that route.  Nice stuff.   That pedestal would be nice.

Engravity does all the front Panels for CP Flight Equipment..  when you see the cp flight Equipment, you are looking at Engravity Quality.

hi chaps......
just thought i'd throw this in.....
cpflight kit is 110% quality and backup and support from 'il professore' (paolo)
is second to none.  he even takes time out to answer technical questions about using the expansion boards for 'other uses' :D   so, for my money, you have a great tie up between CPFlight & Engravity.   and given the quality of the Engravity kit, the Pedestal will be everything you ever wanted :D

Trevor, if you had the correct dimensions of that rack you could DIY for $100+/-. Think of the money you'd save to use for something else.

It's basically just a box with mounting rails and a separation for the fire control system.

It might by out of stock from the aviation megastore, but it is in stock at FLYengravity.

And yes, cpflight and FLYengravity are related.

It started years back at the launch of CPflights scaled down MCP USB, since then Engravity made the panels for their radios and the mcp usb, etc, but the cooporation has become more intensive since then. The MCP PRO, the EFIS PRO and the FCU have been co-developed from the very early beginning.

Over the next few months some other stuff will be launched/announced that has been completely co-developed and co-invested by both FLYengravity and CPflight.

I built mine out of MDF, as Mike says it is just a box! cost max 4hours +50-100 for material.
Check FDS too, close to you. Pete maybe has a spare one.

Cheers Jack, I didn't think about FDS, and your right, he is way closer to me. I am sure Pete has such an Item.. I will have to go check the site.

I have a welder at work, and a Plazma Cutter, I should see if he thinks it would take much to build it..  I am not that handy when it comes to making things with Fire, but I am sure there are experts around that I can rely on.

Cheers,

Trev

Edited..  Wow..  Found it!!!
