Hey Guys.
Not sure if I told any of you, but not to long ago I was away on Business. While I was away I get this phone call from my wife in the middle of the night that something in the simulator was banging and crashing and sounded like it was screaming.
Upon her inspection, (With a broom mind you) to kill whatever was invading my simulator... She went into the sim to discover the throttle handles moving erratically and the spoiler handle banging itself on the case. (Keep in mind everything was shut off) and only the TQ was plugged into the power.
She unplugged the unit, and I was able to have a look at it when I got home.
The Hitec-HS-755HB Servo attached to the spoiler had completely destroyed itself. And I have just ordered a replacement. In Fact, I managed to find a deal on 3 of them so I will have spares.
Anyway, I hope this is not going to be a regular occurrence. However after looking at how the unit is put together, it may just be.
My suggestions to all of you, are as follows... If you own one of these.. (keep the unit unplugged when not in use).

It was only a matter of time before these contraptions of ours became 'live' ::). Tell your wife she's lucky 'the thing' did not take off instead and destroyed a wall in the process. ;D

Sorry to hear about your throttle Trevor. I wish I'd have seen Tracey poking at it with a broom. That would have been a riot to see.
Anyway, I read about it yesterday, but when I got home I found out the power supply had failed on my modem and couldn't reply. No internet until about ten minutes ago.

However, when I am sitting in the livingroom, in the dark, daughter is sleeping, hubby out of town and even the cats are sleeping and all I hear is some screeching noise coming from my basement....well I think anyone would take a broom with them :laugh:
I don't blame you at all for what you did. I'd have done the same.
I had a bird loose in the basement some months back and I couldn't figure out what was making all the ruckus against the screen door at the top of the stairs and all the 'fan' noise I was hearing.
After investigating a bit, I found a house wren had gotten in and found him perched atop my bench vise. I open up the screen door and tried to wrangle him towards the stairwell. He knew where the door was he just didn't know it was open until he tried it again after shooing him towards the stairs. Up and out he went.
Last Autumn I had a robin in the basement. Beats the heck out of me how they both got in. The basement's sealed up tighter than Presley's pants.

yep... Tracy..i too would have shit myself...and knowing my luck i would have been watching something scary on the telly aswell at the time, and a thunderstorm would have been brewing in the distance to really get the butterflies going.
last time a huge possum was on the roof i went out with the cricket bat in me undies yelling out at three in the morning.....i thought there were kids running on the roof.
BTW... without hijacking this.....where is tim?...
ninja convention?... pajama party?...judo ladies cocktail night?..chopstick fly catching tournament?...panda petting zoo?

LOL!! I believe I was watching some Criminal show :o Thankfully there wasn't a thunderstorm on top of it. Think I would have been grabbing the kid and heading to a hotel!
Very funny story Tracy :) Glad all turned out alright. Sorry guys I have been super busy lately. I have just completed a couple training contracts with a special operations unit that are now on deploy in mid east and 2 law enforcement agencies tactical units, I was training their instructors, so my time has been very tight last 2 weeks.But no worries i am around, thanks for worrying Dave :) nice to be missed.
