Title: When you know you need to tone it down...
Post by: vidarf on June 27, 2012, 12:07:10 PM
Is it me, or does this actually look like a good idea???

Not too far away from my place, there is a guy that have used a entire plane as a weather vane... He bolted it into a "turntable/bearing" from a trailer. So yes, you are onto something there.

The plane was an experimental that never made it through any classification...

I like the pic but don't give BSD any ideas. I have been cutting down trees to open up our land and I'm not putting one of those in the middle.

Uh, well there was time I wanted to paint runway numbers on the driveway and add a center line, with yellow side lines, as well as add red and white checkered pattern paint to all four storage sheds. In addition to building a tower to be higher than the 100 foot trees, so I could watch the military aircraft fly over. Or, what about the day with the weather ballon experiments, where we used a hair dryer on a cold day, melted the hair dryer piece, released the ballon, it hits the chimmney and breaks the spark arrestor, and then blows up.

Or what about the second weather ballon released from the neighbors house that went 50 feet and hit the corn field to only blow up and take out corn plants. Then, there was the day we flew a RC airplane in a farm field with 3 feet of snow and -40 below temps...

So, I'd say we've toned it down a bit, but then again a F16 in the living room, a B737 in the garage, a B727 on the driveway, and the master bedroom & family room filled with RC planes, so yep, we toned it down from level 1000 to 999...LOL!

Hmmmm..... what about installing taxiway lights - WITH centerline - in the driveway? Including a sign reading "Cul de Sac ahead" at the curb?

BSD cleared to FL1000...

You'd need to put a sign up, visible from the air that reads, "If you try to land here, I get to keep what's left!"

:)

I know this post is kind of older but i thought you would all like to see one of BSD cockpits.

this one has a nice story behind it...

BSD set up a pick up date to get his new toy... he assures me the cockpit is small and he won't have a problem bringing it home... We'll be able to use our cage to get it off the trailer.

AS you can see, it's not small and we had to higher a crane to come take it off the trailer.

It should fit nicely in the basement as long as you dig a big hole and tunnel to under the basement and then straight up. Piece of cake  ;D

my summer project is to have a building big enough for the cockpit(s) to fit in, that way the military will stop hovering over my house during the summer looking for the rest of the plane.

it make it very hard to lay out in the back yard.

You should make it stick halfway out of the roof.

Maybe these will help:

Stick this out of the roof:  [ebay]190788782717[/ebay]

Of course, I am more interested int what looks like an A4 skyraider in the background
