Hi guys!
Sorry for the newest topic for the next newbie question but it didn't fit to any other. So I want to understand that common feedback mechanism, which lets me to have for example an FCU speed value displayed on a 7 segment display. How does it work, where do I get the FSX output data, what format, what do I have to do with it, what kind of cards, PCBs I need to buy or build, and of course I don't know anything about the basis of driving 7 segment displays. At first I have to learn and understand it, so if someone has information please share with me, or any other documentation, tutorial, suggestion etc.

In my case I rather buy fully assembled items like he MCP, radios, CDU's, etc, LED's and switches are easy to wire up and is more economical to do it yourself.

Sam, yes I'm trying with an Airbus, you're right. I know some things but it is not enough. I only want to research and do experiments in the next few months, maybe a year, I don't want to build anything large, I just want small, but fairly operating things, for example a knob and a 7 segment display, or anything else. The goal is to understand how it works, and assemble an operable piece. I know that is more suggested to buy pre-assembled parts, but the prices are unbeliveably high, I won't have 1600 € for an FCU, it more worths if I buy the outside and build the inside.
But that phase is way too far for me...

John, thanks for your advice, you are very optimistic, but sorry, it's Hungary. If I go to visit this place, at first I won't get through the main gate, because nobody will expect me there. If I call them, and tell them that I want to try their simulator, their first thought would be that who I am to have such a request and what I am thinking about this simulator is it a toy or something? The other scenario is that they tell that the simulator is full with trainees all around the clock (which is true), but if I want they can book me an hour in two months time, for a price which I can buy a full FCU for my simulator from.
So it's a good, but dead idea here in Hungary. But fortunately there are so many simulator enthusiasts here as well, who had the financial background and have built a quite high quality simulator, which I have a chance to try for free. Care do not shop in SIMQUIP, I lost a lot of money with them. They are dishonest, are robbing several people who have paid and never received.
On the suggestion of some others here, I am building this to get my feet wet. It simple and cheap.

The code is for FSX but it could be recoded fairly easily to work with X-plane too. The modules are surprisingly cheap and although this is based on a matrix screen, it's not to difficult or expensive to get 7 segment cards for an Arduino. Check here for very cheap Arduino parts and addons. I've ordered tons from them before.
