Title: Big thanks - end of an era!
Post by: kurt-olsson on September 08, 2021, 12:20:49 AM
Hello everyone!

Just wanted to say thanks for all information and help i have gotten over the years on this forum.
I started my simulator back in 2015 and it has been a fun ride.

But after sourcing the last part of the OEM build suddenly i felt that it was "time for something new".

Maybe i will get a smaller aircraft from a OEM cockpit cut but my 737 project is over. I think that when i learned to master it with interfacing, construction etc it lost its "magic".

So once again, thanks for everything.

I will be hanging around here and hope i also can contribute to anyone who is building OEM 737. (or with something else)

Thanks!

Sorry to hear about that.
May be too much building, not enough flying !
Most common reason for sim burnout.

Absolutely, i was building for all those years without even having a monitor. :)

I am more of a builder than flyer for sure.

Been at this crossroad before. The number of sims I've gotten rid of is not insignificant but more importantly I've regretted selling each one.

Having learned those lesson, when I tire of the sim, or the hobby in general I focus on something different.

Last year it was learning to play drums. This year it's piano.  8)

Don't do it, don't do it...do it...do it......it it it...is there an echo in here?!

Seriously, just cover everything up with a sheet and let it be for a long while. It's all ready taking up the space it needs, so no need too move it.

Then, go do something else, anything else really. Like most of us have done. Ehhh, you wanna see pics of my giant Lego City?

The point is, I covered mine all up for a year, and now I'm starting too do things with it again. Like building new computers and updating all the software.

Also, you need too do what I did. Order a set of CH Yoke, Throttle and Pedals, and then get a decent computer, so you can run MSFS 2020.

This will give you lots of flying time without worrying about building anything for now...

Like Jack says, too much building, not enough flying...you hit burnout.

Haha i hear ya all. But it this case you are wrong. I am so thankful for all the years of soldering , late nights and my beautiful OEM components. But for me its important to move on and have different experiences.

Stuff that i dont use i am not comfortable with keeping.

But anyless, keep rocking with your amazing sims. I will follow your builds. :)

Could it be linked to a rating on a new kind of Aeroplane ?

Just do what I do....  invest so much time and money packing, shipping, and upacking the sim - that you're always 'building'.  It's back up and flying again in Germany - but I'm currently in Greece measuring my next sim hanger to get the sim in there next year when I move to Greece.  I'm telling myself that will be the sims final move.

I know, right?  Sixth times a charm!  I've already got a list of upgrades to apply the next time - and I ordered a cockpit door so I can finally add the rear of the cockpit...  Jack, I'll finally actually use the dummy circuit breakers we had made all those years ago

Very nice, Jack!  I'll have a couple real CBs when I'm done, for specific failures - but I'll live with fake ones until I can figure out how to 3D print working simulated ones.
