Just came across this site and I'm sure this will be very handy for me so I thought I would share it with those of you who didn't already know about this source.

I won't bog this thread down with off topic posts about the phidgets card, but initial testing with the 0/16/16 is positive. It was easier to test with a separate solenoid switch I have and a separate rotary, as my start switches are installed in the overhead (but not wired).

But I could turn the rotary to 'GND', the solenoid would energise (I had to manually flick the switch, but it held), then at starter cutout, it automatically flicked off.
