737 Glareshield

Hi Folks,

I'm slowly moving on into my 737 cockpit build.
So far, my FWD overhead is done, my FDS MIP is ready to go and i just bought a complete set of MCP737 PRO + 2 EFIS from CPFlight.

I'm about to build a support to fix it to my MIP as i can't afford for now to buy the FDS Glareshield based on what i've been through when i had to pay local taxes to DHL.

I'm also looking for something that i can easily adapt to Glarewing and Glareshield.

Any idea or suggestion is more than welcome.

I suppose you refer to the VAT (TVA) which you have to pay on anything you buy  but is included in the consumer price in France.
I would highly recommend the custom FDS hardware for that, as it is a simple bolt on and real sturdy.
Besides I think they can supply you with the brackets for the CP stuff

If not, you have to use metal (aluminum)
Do not mix what you have with MDF or plywood

I made a strong glareshield support out of  L shape aluminum bars on my previous sim. (see attached))
I can also send you pics of the parts you are missing (from my actual sim) and you can have them cut at a local workshop.

I was looking for aluminium.

FDS Glareshield is a little bit too high for my budget at this time, however i need to fix it quickly. I assume that would be a temporarily solution.

If you know a glareshield for sale, i will take a look at the offer. ;-)

Thank you guys for providing me guidance.

I managed to build a support from L bar in aluminium like Jack has suggested.
It's strong enough and lightweight as well which sounds good to me.

I'm now looking for building or buying glareshields and glarewings. Did anyone of you have feedback about GLB glareweings?

It was less difficult than expected, pretty easy to be honest.

I think i will go for the glarewings.

I bought a pair of these from geremy. He needed 50 pre-orders to get the manufacture started. They are OK, maybe a little more flimsy than I'd like. There is no top, so a dash cover is still required. There's also a nice moulded  inlay which will be perfect for an LED strip of lights.

Once installed and wired, I will probably give them a few coats of paint on the insides, in order to give them more weight/stiffness.
