I wanted to snap a few while in flight, but I was under ATC for this flight and didn't have a lot of time for distractions. I am going to get a few shots in a turn either Monday or Tuesday next week.
The alignment isn't perfect, but it's a heck of a lot better than it was with that 19" 5:4 monitor stuck in between the WS monitors. Plus, I got a couple of more inches horizontally too. I didn't have to hardly touch the zoom or up/down on the keyboard. I guess to get it really near perfect I'll have to go into the config file and manually change eyepoints. The up/down on the keyboard is much too drastic for each setting. I don't know why they couldn't get a finer adjustment for the up/down view like they did for the zoom factor.
The view at altitude was amazing.
Anyway, back at Frankfurt after a controller exam at Bratislava:

Man, it looks great! You could really get lost in there. I can't wait until we're able to enclose the ATR a bit more, but there's still much work to be done in-behind and around it, and the less contending we need to do with extra obstacles the better (unfortunately).

Yeah Mike, now you're talking. This is making your half-sim much more worth it now. Looking GREAT. Since you are using screens vs. projectors I'd like to see you experiment more with the external light warming up your cockpit from the outside like you started with a few months ago.
I really do want to do that again and get something set up in the room permanently so all I have to do is throw the switch.
Right now, it seems the more I keep adding to the immersion the longer it takes to set up and actually fly it.
1.) Start all the systems and monitors up. Shutdown background programs. (mostly on the utility computer I use for the internet and utilities)
2.) Flight planning & weather
3.) Start up the sim electronics & sound
4.) Start up FS on all systems
5.) Configure the main FS server with undocking the cockpit displays & location. Configure client #2.
6.) Move 22" right outside display into position
7.) Move 32" left outside display into position
8.) Finally sit down in the cockpit!
8.5.) Get back up because I forgot something. (Beer, pee, iPhone, sidewall power supply, ashtray's full forgot the sub-woofer, etc, etc.)
9.) File flight plan & receive clearance.
10.) Actual operations begin an hour to an hour and a half after the first step.
I need a checklist just to get into the airplane! :P
I'll get some of this streamlined like moving my TV every time I fly after I get another to place permanently, and starting all the computers, FS, and monitors at once.
I think maybe a really should write up a checklist for all of this stuff.
You need to get yourself an FO (female officier) to do steps 1-8. Then you come in at step 9 and do your flight. Since you don't have an extra seat for the FO, she can either sit on your lap or you can send her to the kitchen to make dinner. ;D

Sorry, still no shots. I flew two controller exams yesterday for 5.4hr, and today is German Day and logged 2.2hr. Good ATC all the way, but they'd all gone to bed by the time I arrived at Katstrup late afternoon yesterday.
I can't believe how much I missed flying on-line. The next best thing to the real thing. :)

Mike I hate to inform you but all flights domestic and International are strictly Non Smoking and Explicitly Prohib the use of any and all Smoking Material in any Flight Deck on any Airline. VIOLATION VIOLATION!! LOL By the way the views look great mike nice, definitely coming along my friend, oh ya VIOLATION! VIOLATION! lol not to mention it lessens the life of your screns and computer by years :( Just Sayin :)

You can set op the computers with startup scripts and wake-on-LAN to get the computers and apps to fire up as you want it. Undocking and positioning of the views is another matter, but can be set manually in the config file if you start up the sim from a saved flight.
You will have some manual work to do as well, but the bootup will be easier if you set up a autoboot via LAN.
Maybe you know all this but haven't taken the time to get into it...

That is actually something I would like to learn more about one day. Is how to get the pc's to wake on lan. I have never played with that, but would be a good thing so that you only have to start the main fs pc, and all the rest would start on their own.
Needless to say, I will beat down your door when that time comes.

I have heard of it, but not really taken the time to investigate. It does sound like all of the systems need to be powered up 24/7 but in a sleep or hibernation state. I don't want any systems running while the sim is not being used. The startup scripts seem promising. I might play around with this.
I don't think the auto-undock will be possible. FS must be started from the default Cessna/Seattle flight or the DF727 will not load correctly. When I select a flight I have saved after the default flight loads, both instrument panels appear on the main view and must be undocked. As they are undocked they jump to the correct screen by themselves, and upon going back to full-screen mode, they also resize and position themselves correctly. It's just that the 727 won't start with them already positioned.

Wake on LAN doesnt require all your pcs to run continuously. Your ethernet card (if it has wake on LAN feature) has a state detection in it that will send a signal to the PC it's installed in to effectively press the start button (virtually) which causes the PC to start up once the ethernet card detects the signal from your server (main FS computer, or whichever one you start up first).
