Between that real amazing scenery at15 FPS on landing and good old FS9 at 40FPS on approach ...(On my computer) I go for the fluid approach...I know it has been debated and I am probably wrong ..but we fly at 30K + most of the time and when close to the ground we stare at the PFD more than anything else so....

You really are 100% right.  in fact, I have just gone back to my FS9 because the 15-17 FPS in FSX was just horrible.

I have to concur guys,
Plus that FSX starting music drives me nuts during setup lmao :) But seriously in FS9 I get 58 FPS regularily and at ground I get 38-41 so Im thrilled. in FSX Im getting 21-24 at ground just too low for my liking. Thanks for that point Jack. Just sayin.

I gave up on FSX for the sim. I think some descent scenery and high framerates for FS9 make for a much better flight. besides we should all be skirting around thunderstorms and shooting CAT III approaches to mins anyhow. No need for scenery :)

I like having 24 fps globally with any scenery I have to give it all up for FSX.

If it goes down to CAT III for me I have to start looking elsewhere for long strips of concrete.  :D

The horse is screaming, "Please quit beating me!" but I have to add another lashing. I have finally gotten FSX to run decent and it's actually fun sometimes. I use it to fly between airports that are out of the way and I dont have high end custom scenery for mostly, although in all honesty and fairness the FlyTampa TNCM which is incredible in FSX, has no frame issues at ALL for me. However, the big change came because Im using a brand new avionics package for the Learjet 45 and have ditched PMRJ. The new package (JET45 AAS) performs much better while running FSX than the PMRJ and so I can actually enjoy it. But, getting back to that lashing of the poor horse, FS9 is still king for now for so many of us full size builders aint it? It just 'works'! However, I can honestly say that one day when we can run FSX like we can FS9 now, I really hope that Orbx has completed their USA package because that is when it will be really worth coming back to FSX and upgrading to the new I7's which from what Im told are running FSX very satisfactorily. Bottom line, at least we are pretty happy with FS9 the way most of us have it pimped out and with the new Real Environment Xtreme (which I have for FSX) that's coming out soon, it will totally make over FS9 all over again, and none of us will have reason to leave our sims on the weekends :-)

Well, I'll put up my 2 cents here and flog that poor horse again. The only problem I have had with FSX was when I was buzzing the New York skyscrapers at low altitude just for fun. But this has nothing to do with real flying and nowhere else was I bothered by low frame rates.

So for me, never ever back to FS9, especially since I will be getting an even better FS PC than the one I have now and this current one would still be good enough for me anyway even though it is far from being the latest & greatest.

But I do have to agree with most of you...the first version of SubLogic flight simulator would probably scream with your current hardware.  ;D

But we haven't beat him enough over here. Should be good for another couple of threads.
