Hello,

After a few years, I'm resuming my pit.

Some renders of my project

Regards

Maurice

Beautiful work! You have some serious mechanical drawing skills so I assume you must do that professionally. If your construction skills match your drawing skills, this will be one heck of a nice project. Can't wait to see it come to life.

Hello Maurice,

Thanks and No, I don't do that professionally.

Just learnt how to use Solidworks. I'll try to build my pit as close as possible to the real one.

I already have some real parts, and waiting for more to arrive from Africa.

Renders are from version 1, where wood was a base material. Now I'm preparing to build my frame and structure using aluminium.

I'll keep you posted

regards

Very nice rendering! I can appreciate the time and careful planning it takes to create such a detailed model. It REALLY helps to have though! I look forward to seeing the parts come to life.

What thickness of aluminum are you planning to use? I'm contemplating switching to steel (at least for the MIP). It's heavier, but seems much less flimsy at thin thicknesses.

MIP panels (and all of other panels) are using 1,5 mm thickness.

other parts will be using mainly aluminium with a thickness between 1 mm and 2 mm. In some parts reinforcements will be needed, extruded aluminium profiles will be used for that.

Main floor and shell frame components are made of 3 parts:
main part 1 mm - 1,5 mm bended at both edges
reinforcement of 3 mm - 4 mm riveted at 1st part
extruded profile riveted at the outside edge of assembly

Secondary frame components will use mostly 1 piece of bended aluminium with 0,75 mm - 1,0  mm thickness

Skin thickness is not defined yet, as i need to do some testing, but it will be around 0,5 mm

This aluminium structure will  be placed on top of a steel frame with wheels

regards
