Wow, where do I start? Worldflight 2014 has come to a close. Delta 209 sits cold and dark in her spot having a well deserved rest after her outstanding performance. Some have left and others head out over the next couple of days. I sit here at 5:10am not believing that it is all over. First off a huge thank you to all who donated to All Children's Hospital! I will have a total in the next couple days. And to the crew: Sam and Lora Llorca, What can be said? You folks are the best! You made this event what it is! I know you will say it is not you, but it is. Trevor, wow am I going to miss you over the next 12 months. Lets keep flying together virtually bud! Kyle, the last 2 flights... no words to describe it. (There are videos!) Fred, Ray, Logan, Mike, Craig, John, our new friend Joe. Pam and Tom for the meals they provided. I thought last year was good but we have set the bar. I have more to post and talk about but as I am a bundle of emotions right now I will stop. More to come........

Excellent effort all round by all the Worldflight teams!   I hope to have my beast ready to participate next year :)

Sam Llorca

Yes, is hard to accept but WFT 2014 is history, great success, I had my doubts a couple of weeks before of having a fully functional sim but at the last minutes everything started falling into place, of course with the help of an amazing crew, can't thank them enough, THANK YOU GUYS!

My special thanks to Douglas Snow on his flight planning and dispatch, very well organized!

Thanks to all the crews, Bob, Trevor, Kyle (excellent pilot skill), Fred, Mike, Craig, Logan, Joe (excellent airline procedures instructor) Rey, Pam and Tom, Sthephens  and Dennis  (Simphonics)for an excellent work on the sound, hope I'm not missing anyone, WFT 2014 "GREAT SUCCESS!!!

It was an honor to be a part of such a great crew.
I wish I could have stayed on the schedule longer.
You guys did an awesome job.
Vanessa and I are so proud!!!!!!
Can't wait till next year. We are still chillin' in Jost Van Dyke and NOT looking forward to returning to real life on Tuesday. But just like WFT14 all good things must come to an end.

Hi guys and ditto - wonderful job all teams.
Our Perth team had an awesome time in our brand new baby Boeing, it made every leg without an issue to stop us flying. We had a drama at one airport with one of the Z87 motherboards and we had to do a bios update which was scary, fortunately the repair worked and the windows clock restarted. Epic fail from the sim owner when after a power off reset the next crew had engine sounds but nothing else, no call outs etc. After several reboots and lot of head scratching, I finally turned the sound amplifier back on!!!I even have a PC start up checklist and missed it, "Doh", just like Homer!!!

The Nowra - bridge - barrel roll sortie at the end was brilliant and we had a big crowd in the shed watching on. it was really hard to find the bridge in the dark but we made the underpass and I did a well practiced barrel roll. The cheering after landing had me very teary and emotional, I was so proud of the crew and our VOZ738. We have raised five thousand aussie dollars for the Royal Flying Doctors and we are really looking forward to doing it all again with you all next year. WORLDFLIGHT TOTALLY ROCKS!!

All the best from Gwyn and the crew of Velocity738!!

Glad the dispatching went well.  Myself and CC dispatched for QFA25 (my team for this year), PAA811, DAL209, and VOZ738.  CC and I worked each flight four times, using their flight plan format, their planning regs (US or ICAO), and so on.  It was a lot of work, but the goal was to add onto the realism on their side...plus, it was nice practice for my dispatcher desk check this month.

For me, I think 4 teams is about the limit.  My workload wouldve been much higher had more teams used Hoppie's ACARS.

Doug,

I can't thank you enough for the effort you put into that.  I can confirm that we enjoyed the dispatch so much, we would love to be on the list for next year.  It made such a difference for us, and we enjoyed it.

Thanks again.

Thank you Doug,

The sense of realism on airline dispatch practices was second to non, we had an airline pilot the first few days of the event and he was impressed by our dispatch room, printed forms etc, now we need to figure out a way to upload it into the CDU's, We as a team were very impressed by it.

And for Musicalaviator on YouTube , we were using a full motion simulator even tho most of the flights were done with the motion off for safety, Delta209 USA team is full motion sim!

JOB WELL DONE!

First, it sucks being back at work.

Second, What a ride! Special thanks to Sam for being the gracious host that only Sam can be, and thanks to everyone else for everything you brought to the table to make WF2014 work! The dispatch was great and working with the controllers was a pleasure.

Of course our flight crews this year were great as well (Except when someone accidentally dropped the landing gear at FL240 @ 240 Knots ;-) <ahem> )

Then of course there was the PPE gear designed to alleviate the intermittent CDU flashes, expertly modeled by Trevor.

And who could forget the "Canadian Water" (Emphasis on the "Air Quotes"). There was the Great Cookout, thanks to Pam and Tom, and our very own stow-away who went along for the ride!

Let's not forget Tom's experience as first officer (We finally let him push a button) ...but only after Trevor instilled the fear of God in him by saying "Yeah if ATC contacts you just press that button and tell them what they what they want to hear..."

WorldFlight just gets better and better.

Unedited pictures and video are here: (Will probably have the edited images by this weekend.)

Agreed, Hoppie's ACARS is fantastic. VOZ738 had many messages during WF from others watching proceedings including another aircraft. We had a small issue trying to reply to the crew of CCA4417 (or a number like that! I remember the CCA prefix) sorry guys but thanks for the message! Thanks Doug for your efforts and thanks go to Kirk Christie who enabled our ACARS amongst many other tech improvements in Velocity738. We are already planning 2015 and I think the hardest job will be disappointing many pilots who have asked to join us. Worldflight will surely snowball I think! Cheers Gwyn & crew!
