Title: [SOLVED] Opencockpits Displays II card Microcontroller
Post by: Nolatron on April 12, 2018, 06:29:54 PM
Anyone is the US happen to have a OpenCockpits Display II Card microcontroller (or maybe a Display II Card)?

One of my card's microcontroller died and thought I'd see if anyone has a spare.

At nearly $50 shipping for a replacement from O/C,  if I can't find an already working chip, I may try picking up a new chip from digikey for $5-10 and try copying the code from my working one to it.

Possibly. What's the part number on the chip?

PIC16F876-20/SP is the number on the chips I have.

Just a small point, I use PIC chips and they have a security BIT that can be set to stop them being copied.
If I know OC they will most certainly have set that, so buying a chip  may be a further waste of your money.

Just checked on Farnell they cost about $7.00 so maybe worth a try.

JUST  :2cw: not trying to interfere...  8)

Sorry, don't have that particular IC. You can get them from DigiKey. You will need a programmer to get the firmware on it though.

Open Cockpits have the .hex file, and even gerber files publically available on their website for those who wish to make their own boards.

Well, I am surprised Kyle,  :o
But good to know they have provided these files. And with the cost of circuit boards so low these days, it makes it worthwhile to make your own I/O boards.

Just wanted to report I was able to pickup a replacement chip from DigiKey and copy the hex code my working chip to the new one.  Both Display cards are up and running.

Thanks!

Glad it worked for you.
