Title: Is this thing on?
Post by: ame on September 28, 2019, 05:36:51 PM
Hello everyone,

I have been helping a friend with various aspects of his flight simulator, mostly software and electronics. I don't have my own simulator, but I have had a go at building a couple of things that piqued my interest, just because this is such an interesting hobby.

Most recently I have been trying to make a simulated circuit breaker. I discovered a post here about building such a thing, and then fell into the rabbit hole of other things people are doing here, so decided to sign up.

I have signed up on other boards, but a lot of forums are focused on just flying (of course) and using the provided 3D simulation. Not many people are posting about the physical hardware interfaces and "real" cockpit environment.

Anyway, here's a couple of photos of my work in progress. I should probably start a thread specifically for this project and put all the details in there, but I thought I'd gauge interest first.

Moderators could move this post and rename it if appropriate.

Hello ame and welcome to the forum.

Your images show a level of skill that will fit right into our band of aviation enthusiasts (fanatics)  8) .

As you will have gathered we build a variety of simulators, in various degrees of reality. So making parts that function realistically without costing the price of real products, is always going to be of interest.
Best of luck with the circuit breaker, I think we will be seeing more products from you in the future.

regards
Joe.

Ame

Welcome to the Forum. I have to agree with Joe on this one, the level of detail and design in this product is incredible.

Looking forward to seeing more of what you can do.

Hello again.

The circuit breaker project is on hold while I wait for the delivery of a connector. This will dictate the final shape of the body, although I am trying to make everything fit into roughly the same envelope as a genuine one.

In the meantime I have been having a go at building a Collins radio panel. Here's some pictures of the work in progress. I have some parts on order and won't be able to continue until they arrive and I can figure out how they fit.

If there's any interest I will start a new thread about the design and construction.

That's pretty awesome as well..  Nice.

I always wanted to do this,  Nice to see someone taking a swing at it.  Great work.
