Now it's time to use the CNC for the first time.
I will show you the first setup in detail and take you with me when I fire up the machine.

Hey Michael,

I am so glad to see you covering the CNC and your way of explaining everything is the best ever. My plan is too turn mine on again and start learning more about it. With learning 3D printing for so long I haven't given much thought about my CNC, but you've inspired me...

Please keep the videos coming!

The glareshield is covered with leather and I have installed my first LED lighting.

Today I present you the first episode of my new series "The Cockpitshow". In this show you have the possibility to present your homecockpits or special builds to the community. If you want to be part of the show then visit my website for further informations about the pictures you have to send to me.
I hope I will see you soon in one of the next episodes.

The new video is online. I made my first Boeing knobs by making a silicone mold and casted them with resin.

Hello Michael,

Thank you for another high quality and informative video.

What engraving depth did you use for the warning annunciator? You mentioned that this was deeper and better than the fire annunciator.

Also what material did you use to fill in the engraving? You mentioned that it is a type of wax if I heard correctly? Does it harden or did you cover it?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Paul

Extraterra

Hello Paul,

the engraving depth was set to 0.17mm. This seems to be enough for the master caution button. When I engraved the fire buttons I used this metal foil to determin the allignment of the surface. And maybe I forgot to add the thickness of the foil when I set the zero point of Z-axis. So if you do it right 0.17 - 0.2mm should be enough.

Yes, I used a wax to fill the engraving. You can find it here https://cnc-plus.de/de/Werksstoffe---Zubehoer/Farbstifte-zum-ausfuellen-einer-Gravur-mit-Farbe--Gravur-Farbfuellung-.html?XTCsid=c193987dee048ca39c170abc5fb0fca2 but I think you will find something similar in your country. There is also a filling varnish. Maybe this is more resistend against rubbing out. The wax hardens too. But I don't trust it enough, so I will cover it with a clear varnish.

Thank you Michael

Thats exactly how they do the real ones.

The first two sections of my overhead panel are finished. Today I present you the flight and navigation panel.

Mickey always makes me feel so inadequate.

Great stuff!

Hey Michael!

Thank you for continuing to post here and making inspirational YouTube videos. You have came a long way over the last year and proved that anyone with enough drive can build a flight simulator.

Plus, IMHO you've proved too be the ultimate DIY builder of the year with all the topics you've covered in 2019. Thus, I nominate you:

Cockpit Builders Website

"Builder of the Year-2019"

Not sure if Trevor still gives that website award/title out, but the forums section sure could use it again. That way we all can vote on someone each year... I am sure he'll read this and comment.

Had to go back and find that quote...lol! Still say Michael deserves the Patience/Builder Award.

IMHO, in all my years there have been great builders, but none have detailed their project so thoroughly with step-by-step videos along the way just too help others....

If we are taking a vote...I second the motion to nominate Mickey!

I have connected my flight control- and navigation panel to MobiFlight and Prosim. I will show you how to connect all the cables to the panels as well as the settings in the both programs.

Extraterra

Organizing cables in your cockpit is the key to keep your build repairable. In this video I will show you my procedure of making cable connections.

Extraterra

A long awaited topic since I've built my own CNC. Now I have tested if I can produce PCBs on it. In this video you can see the result.

Been watching you on YouTube for some time.  Nice to finally "meet" you.  Great stuff Mickey.  Love the videos and you are a good teacher.

Those of you who are following me on instagram know that I'm still in trouble with the pcb of the electric panel. And so I decided to make another section of the overhead first. Today I present you the build process of window heat and anti-ice panel. You will see all the needed steps to build these as well as the programming in Mobiflight an Prosim.

n4208t

Mickey, you are a great teacher.  Thanks for these.

Extraterra

The next section of my overhead panel is finished. This time I've made the hydraulic panel with its two colored top plate.
