Title: 180 visual, "vintage"
Post by: jackpilot on October 20, 2020, 10:12:47 AM
Just an idea.
Did someone try the old method ? ie: no warping, no blending, 3 flat screens at angle.
Rationale:
I spend 80% of my flight looking at my instruments, checking systems and navigation.
My front screen is 15 feet wide and fills the front windows. I do not have side views.
Side views would be a plus for for my peripheral vision only, not for checking details of scenery below.
The 3 flat screens would allow:
No FlyElise
No loss of sharpness
No fancy screen
If it works with 3TV systems it should work for Projectors.
Any comments.

Jack - Is your question specific to MSFS2020 or is it "in general"?

Your suggestion works for flat screen TVs of course (many here are set up that way), but practically speaking you would still need Fly Elise for projectors since it would be difficult to get a "straight-on" projection to the flat screens....keystone effects etc.  So continuity of view and distortion would not be perfect.

2020 ? what's that  :P  ?

More Seriously :
My front view is Super OK. big 15 feet across.
Could add two projectors for sides.
Do not understand why I still would need Élise :D

You don't, IF you're happy to use keystone and butt the images as close as possible manually
and live with an overlap of a few pixels.

Butting is Ok, (cant be worse than TV frames), with the advantage of one continuous image in the front windows.

Just trying to improve and keep it simple.
(Still a project)
Thanks Nat. ;)
