Hi to all,

I know that many friends here own a FDS 737 shell, and obviously the FDS MIP structure together with the FDS glare shield are designed to fit 100% and make the package plug and play, but I was wondering if anyone is using a Fly Engravity MIP or any other suppliers MIP together with the FDS shell, and how this MIP structure "bonds" together.

Thanks in advance,

Nick from Athens

Hi Nick,

I have seen several MIP's that are from other suppliers and even home made that have worked fine. There is always a chance you will have to modify something or the possibility that the MIP may need to sit a little bit off the exact place but this should only be minimal. Very little in appearance so only an "expert" might notice. I am sure we all know one of those guys.  ;)

Sometimes you just have to break out the cutters and make things fit :)

More like this!

Actually if you have a real nose you end up bringing out the big grinders.

Nice fireworks!! well, the FDS shell can probably accomodate your wildest dreams...the key mod could be the glareshield top, besides that.. as Steve put it, should be a breeze.

I have the Engravity MIP and have modded it to fit pretty damn well. I had to modify the MIP side panels and glare shield top, but it sits exactly where I want it (and where I think it should be). I made cardboard templates to help me get the cuts right first time.

Happy new year guys  :)

Thanks to all for the replies,

Those fireworks were what I wanted to avoid

Anyway, as long as I receive the shell, I will do any mods required. In fact I own a cockpitsonic DST now (for sale in the classifieds) which in my personal opinion will not fit in the nose sction, but if for any reason the mods are easy to do, I will abord the sale.

In any other case it will be a pitty to cut the DST... it is brand new !

The FDS nose fits perfectly with the FDS DSTD (Dual Seat Training Device). It would be too difficult for us to know all the specs of other manufacturers to make theirs fit our nose.

The "sparks" were only a reference to using a real nose that we have done on several occasions and we did need to modify the real nose to make it fit. Which the DSTD fits in really nicely.

When fitting one part to another you should always take in to account Murphy's law of size which states "If it doesn't fit you are not hitting it hard enough!"
