I finally found what I was looking for. is called led dimmer here you ca see a diagram and how to build one.

I would recommend to use small bulbs instead of LED. The LED`s have a tendency to make spots with bright light, but it does not give the lighting immersion" you are looking for. I use small 1,2w bulbs installed in a 8mm thick piece of lexan. Dimmer is a PWM motorcontroller from www.oceancontrols.com/au
This works very well, and looks nice.

KTA-067 will be fine for this light, and for maplights, and other sources that doesnt draw too much ampere. For more current demanding lights, the KTA-195 is perfect.

I use "Warm WHITE" LED strips+ LED dimmers
Cheap
I get an very even lighting, variable from nil to full bright.
One dimmer for the Mip one for the MCP, so that it can be adjusted differently according to needs

Dimmer is $6.99 a piece
LED strips $5.79 for 100cm

I am not sure, but it looks like my old DIY LED dimmer drawing.   :D
Dont use that since you can buy assembled chinese LED-dimmers that are working better (and cheaper) - see Jacks links above !
I have retired all my d.i.y. dimmers and replaced them by the chinese ones (0.8 Amp) - further they can be ordered for any low voltage - same cheap price.

My 10 Eurocents.

First let me thank you for your answers.

Ivar hestnes, I like the tecnique you have used but I was attracted by the color of light used by jackpilot.
Thanks saabpilot, I will  follow your advice because I have seen the links posted (very nice the chinese dimmer)

I find it interesting because apparently you can remove the case and place the pot on my panel. Today I made the holes for the lights controled by: Background Bright

Yep, just open the box, remove the pot and hook a longer wire to your MIP.

Talk about timing? After reading Jacks post we ordered the same dimmer and led light strip, and installed this past week. Removed the AFDS panel knob and inserted the dimmer knob, and then added a longer 3 wire strand (RC Servo wire of red, yellow & black) to go to the dimmer box placed behind the MIP. For power, we just ran 2 sets of red & black wire twisted with a drill to the PSU, the led light strip and then to the dimmer box.

Only issue we had was the dimmer pot shaft is shorter than the pot that came from FDS, so we used a small piece of plastic inside the knob shaft hole to help the set screw take hold of the shorter dimmer shaft. After thst, we turned it on and saw the light! Just needed a sound of heavenly "AAAHHHH!" when we did. Didn't see the spotted look of leds and that's because FDS knows how to make glareshields. They have a channel for the led lights to lay in, so we're not seeing what Ivar describes.

However, thought about adding a small strip of frosted plexi over top the channel and covering the leds; thereby, diffusing the light. That should preclude the spot effect for those sitting lower in the seat. I set higher, so that could also be why I dont see it...

Thanks for the links Jack. Now, do you a reference for dimmer the IBL panels in the same manner? We want to place one in the MIP and the other in the Overhead.

Nope
Nothing yet for the IBL's.
Short shaft:
Had that problem too and ended up ordering  pots of same value (10K I guess from memory) with a longer shaft.
Have a great one

I just finished building my chrono (here you can see a picture:)

I wired to my  USB stepper motors card from opencockpit witch is 5v.
The stepper motor is working but shake a little bit and noisy.

May be i am missing some thing.
¿I need to reduce the voltaje to 2,7v that is designed this motor?
