Check out the new video, showing playback with Instructor Station of data and cockpit audio gathered during a real IFR flight on a Cessna 172 with the iPhone / iPad FLIGHT DATA RECORDER app.

Dont miss it!

Cheers!

Hi Luis,

Will you please check your formatting; I cannot watch this on an Ipad. It's not a .flv video is it? If so, it cannot be viewed from iOS and youtube...

Hi Luis,

It's showing the message of the cat pic, with message "not available on this platform". I went to your channel and I can see a still image that represents the video in the list, but once I click on it I get same message. However, all your other videos work just fine...

John

Ps. Anyone else seeing this on an Ipad?

Hi Luis,

After watching this video, but not completely reading the manual, I am left with the idea that this is mainly about playback on the Google Earth (GE).

Would you make a full demostration video covering some setups examples and a few step-by-step tutorials to give a better understanding of what this program can do.

Finally, if this program is setup to record audio for 3 hours and the data to translate for GE, how big does a person's  Ipad need be in regards to memory storage 32Gb, 64Gb, and which models of Ipad, as well as which iOS is the best?

Thank you,

John

Hi John,

Thanks for the feedback.  Actually, a new video is in the works, showing all features and how to use the app.

To answer your question on the amount of storage required, approximately 60 minutes of data recording equates to 1.7 MB of data on your device. Including voice recording, that amount is about 7.7 MB.  For 3 hours, the voice and data will amount to 23 MB.  So, as you can see, this is small enough that any iDevice capacity will suffice.  Obviously, good user practice is required to keep things tidy (move data from iDevice to PC periodically).

The app is designed for use with iOS 6.1 or later (has been optimized for use in iOS 7).  As far as the iDevice itself an iPhone 4S or later is recommendable for performance, and any iPad / iPad mini will work well too (again, performance will suffer with an original iPad, so at least iPad 2 is recommended).

Cheers!
Luis
