Title: Software suite for GA
Post by: archen on April 30, 2020, 11:42:06 PM
Hello all,
Are the any software suits like prosim available for general aviation Sim?

I plan to use Simvim (they plan to add support for FS2020) but that's just a hardware integration tool. I was more curious if there's a complete software suite available.

Any ideas?
Anders

Project Magenta do a full IFR suite and a glass version as well.

Not sure if that's what you're looking for Anders.

Hey Joe,
I didn't know that. I'll check that out. IFR is what I'm looking for [emoji4]

Is PM still under development?

Morning Archen,

Yes I believe it is, but I have their 737 suite so I don't have access to the IFR software, I would suggest dropping them a line.

Of course you can always try the demo software, I believe that gives you so many minutes of operation.

Anders,  Flight1Tech has the G1000 suite available for P3D (not X-Plane) and Mindstar has the G1000 suite available for FSX and P3Dv3 (it is only 32 bit and not compatible with P3Dv4 or 5)  Flight1 and RealityXP both have the Garmin 650/750 available.

Air Manager is a great tool that offers a slew of different solutions for both P3D and X-plane.

From what I have heard, you Can't update NAVDATA on Flight1 stuff though.  Shame really.

That's a shame, same with realityxp gpses as well.. That's kind of a dealbreaker as the main target for my sim is IFR.

That's why I prefer Project Magenta.  (May not have all the bells and whistles) But it works solid and totally update able.

I also Use the Boeing Suite, But edited all the config files to match that of the Super KA350i (Proline21 Look a like)

Anders,
If you want to go down Flight1 path. Check out their forum. There is information there about people who have updated these avionics if they are pilots with the appropriate subscriptions for Garmins gear.

Not sure about all of the Flight1 stuff but I have been using the Flight1Tech F1000 hardware and the G1000 Student Pro software since 2016 and the Nav Data is most certainly updateable.  I do it myself with Navigraph, it is not automatic, but there is a specific version for the F1Tech software that updates the database with no issues.

Working with P3Dv5 as well though the Safer Taxi add-on did not seem to make the transition so (hopefully) they will be releasing an update.
