Hi Guys, Lets start off with this.... Little differently this year.
First come first serve... Give me the WF Flight numbers you want. We are thin on pilots this year so far, but have a look at the schedule... (http://worldflight.cockpitbuilders.com/pilots.html)
http://worldflight.cockpitbuilders.com/pilots.html (http://worldflight.cockpitbuilders.com/pilots.html)
Let me know what flights you are interested in and I will try to accommodate you.
I am making the assumption Ray/Kyle are with us for the entire trip?
Hi Trevor, can I get 1527 Cpt and 1533 Cpt?
You can keep me as a back up in case you need me, remember I don't do well late at night but every morning after 6:00am I'm good, I can be used if needed.
Thanks,
Sam
If you plan on flying this year, make some noise and pick your flights!
Done Sam. Anyone else?
That's it brother, thank you so much for your great work!

Yes I'll be there the whole week. Still need me to bid?
I'll take 1541 as capt
I have you in for that one, Because you are an experienced capt, I would like you to pick, but you also may get put in some extras, if we need the staffing LOL, so fire away LOL
Ok,
1507, 1520, 1528, 1537
I'm sure they'll be changes.
Done :)
Trevor,
As soon as my travel plans are set, i'll give you my choices. I'm coming to fly so use and abuse me LOL Looking forward to digging up my 3000+hrs plus 737NG time and remembering how to follow the magenta line LOL I'm used to old school navigation now.
Rob
I'll be there - call me pilot 11
I'm transitioning from the 744 to the 738, so I'll be hi mins, but I have 2 WFs in the SYD 744 under my belt :)
My bid
CA on 1504
FO on 1508
CA on 1510
I might have to be in DC between 03/1200Z-04/0400Z
FO on 1527
CA on 1537
FO on 1541
CA on 1542
I love oceanic segments..

Lol Rob. Don't say that... Just ask Kyle what it is like running on no sleep. First few days always kick me in the a$$ especially when there is only a couple of us to do all the flights until people show up. Ha ha ha

Seriously Doug???? If you are coming I will give you all those flights and I will give you the time off to be in DC!
I thought you were dispatching? Can you do that from SAMs? Just say the word bud and I will add you. Oh and you will also have to make your pilot donation.
(I'm here for the entire duration, arriving SRQ mid Saturday Morning)
My Flights:
1511 (Capt or FO)
1517 (Capt)
1520 (Capt)
1539 (Capt)
1530 (Capt)
1541 (FO)
I'm not going to cross-reference the schedule at this time. If those flights are taken, feel free to schedule me around somewhat the same timeframe....
(But I would love the Paris-London haul. :-) )
Or just throw a dart... I'm good with that.
Also feel free to add me to more flights... I know we're shorthanded.. Just make sure the coffee is hot!
My only hard request: Bob Reed Flies Captain and I fly as his F/O (and|or visa-versa). Any flight. :-)
I fly into TPA on FDX that friday evening.. Back to MEM on sunday on someone (probably JS on Delta) but other than DCA, I'll be there for the duration.
Awesome. I will add you to the roster. And put you in for those flights. I look very much forward to meeting you and having the extra experience with us. (Will you still dispatch us?).
Ray, glad you could join us for the whole duration this time. Can't wait to see you.... Got it you want fly with Bobby I will make all these changes to the roster first thing tomorrow morning.
Yeah Douglas Snow is our dispatcher!
I'll DX us, I dont want to work the other teams this year. I'll Let Commando c-u-n-t do that from SYD.
(In OZ, the C word is a statement of respect) CC is a retired British Royal Marine (Sgt Major rank) with 25 years in uniform, and lots of combat time :) I'm LC in Oz and I'll splain that when I get there.
Also, as long as I get min rest, I'm good. I also volunteer for any other open time once all the bids are awarded.
Done Guys, Flight board is updated.

Hi Greg, This is all my error... Sam sent me your name and everything and I added you but forget to assign your flights. Sorry bud. Welcome to the group. I am looking forward to meeting you :)
I have scheduled you for your flights. Let me know if you need anything else. (Please be aware I may toss you into some other flights as well) These are just your bids, the flights nobody wants will be randomly handed out. At some point I will book my own flights LOL.
Maybe I should write some software for you. Enter everyone's bids and it generates the schedule by seniority.....like a real airline.
I need to change my line a little
I need to drop 1527 as I'll still be in DC. I'm booked on AA DCASRQ getting back at 0300Z weds evening.
But I'll pickup 1505 CA

YES to all of the above. Thanks to our most gracious host, we have a very nice pilots lounge. Lots of food and drinks. She will be more then comfortable. Also if motion is off, she can sit in the back of the sim.
After answering Rob's question about our wonderful facility, (thanks Sam and Laura!) I think we need to post a few more pictures of it. I went and did a quick look and we have lots of pictures of the 737 posted (imagine that, you can see what most of us are there for) but I think we need to show how we actually live for those days. We are very well taken care of! So if you have some picks of other then 73 please post them. But lets start a new thread.
Let me know when the Donate option is operational as I want to put the link on mt Facebook page and try and raise some funds. :)

Keep in mind folks that we may still get a couple more pilots and we will need to have a few flights for them.
Jim said he was coming down for a couple of days
Morning Guys.. I am sure everyone here is at above average when it comes to being able to handle the 737. However, I am not sure what everyone's VATSIM Experience is in the group. Please keep in mind that although this is very much for fun, we are still required and bound to follow all Vatsim's terms and conditions. I do know I am guilty from last year where in Russia it took hours and hours and hours of sitting on the tarmac waiting for the controller to get organized and I/we were so far behind because of that controller, I just took off on an active runway and upset Vatsim management. After that we were put in holds and delayed because of my impatience.
We always need to keep in mind that we are LIVE On Camera to the Wold, our charity and Vatsim. When in doubt, disconnect from Vatsim before you do anything that could upset them. I still to this day believe I was justified in my actions, and I was not the only one that did it, but I was the only "Official Team" That needed to do it, and unfortunately they made an example of us because of it.
We all just need to be as professional as possible.

Let me add to this. VATSIM is where we all need to practice. I know this is my real weakness. I have trouble hearing the controllers and then understanding them so I sometimes miss calls. That is a problem for the pilot flying. Now he knows he needs to also listen to the coms. Also all pilots must have a current VATSIM ID. This is mandatory and one of the rules for WF. So get those ID's current and start practicing! :idiot:
For help with understanding Vatsim controllers, just make random calls to [Insert the strongest accent you can think of here] people using your cell phone, outside on a windy day.
If you can successfully connect and order a pizza, you are good to go!
 LOL

For those of us with 'Mic Fright' I am putting together a simple communication workflow when conversing with ATC. It'll give you a good starting point when keying the mic and a good idea what responses will be from ATC.
I fly on occasion, and still to this day experience Mic Fright. (I considered therapy but the wife didn't think buying a KingAir -200 was covered by our health insurance....)
What ya gonna do?
Hello Guys,
I was hoping that I might be able to carve out time to attend WF this year, but Family matters and Grand Jury duty are taking priority. Hopefully I can attend next year. I'll sure miss flying with you folks.
Have a great World Flight event!
Mike
QuoteI do know I am guilty from last year where in Russia it took hours and hours and hours of sitting on the tarmac waiting for the controller to get organized
We should anticipate this happening again this year. If it does, what's our course of action? Maybe disconnect from VATSIM, get airborne, then re-connect once were at altitude and out of the Tower's range?
Good idea Ray!
Let's hope it doesn't happen again, keep your fingers crossed.
Cheers Team, We'll see you in November!
Guys. I am actually thinking that I may keep the schedule an hour ahead of the other WF teams. That way if we are delayed which we all know happens we can make up the time easier. This is still something I am pondering.
Greg pointed out that I have messed the hours up in the conversion from UTC to EST he said you are currently at GMT -4 going to GMT -5. I though it was the other way around and made the schedule GMT -5 now and going to GMT -4. Can someone else confirm this for me to make sure I really am wrong on the schedule.
Also I can't get my head wrapped around what the cause of my error will do to our time. Will we be an hour delayed or an hour ahead? Let me know please.
Trevor,
Currently we are GMT -4 with daylight savings time.
At the time change in November we will then be going to GMT -5hrs for standard time.
I wouldn't try to be ahead of the other teams. We should be trying to fly on schedule. Pilots need to be ready to go into the sim 1/2 hr before scheduled departure time.
Everyone else is flying in the same environment.
If anything we should be talking with the worldflight organizers/vatsim about the issues last year.
Schedule is already built in PFPX, as published by Ed Parker. I asked on the Worldflight board if CPDLC could be available, for that could help on the delays.
We could also overfly a city in case of extreme delays to try and catch back up.
Flight plans will be available 2 hours prior to sked push time. I'll release ahead for the time I'm in Dca.
Let me know if you guys need any additional slots filled. Noticed quite a few open on the schedule.
No experience in the RW aircraft, but have about 35 hours in the full 737 sim. Also typed in the CL-65 (not that that will help).
p.s. Bob, sent you an email last month, not sure if you got it.
Glass is glass :)
If you need a 738 FCOM, I have one - having the basics of the FMS down wouldn't hurt. There are a few really good apps for 738 systems too for the iPad. Between that and an FCOM, you'd be golden.

I understand how that goes. I can take 1538, 1539, 1544, and 1545 as of now. May be able to come in earlier and help with Wednesday/Thursday, but won't know till next month.
If there is anymore open time avail for pickup, I'll also pickup 1545 - either seat.
Keep in mind that several of the guys staying for the week still only have 2 or 3 flights assigned, and I see two pilots with only 1 flight assigned each.
I believe we usually assign the last flight at the event.

Hi Colin,
Sorry I didn't have you on the roster. 1538 and 1539 were already spoken for through email last week, I just updated the list, and Kyle is right, depending how the week goes we usually assign the last flight at the event because it is an extra special flight. Are there any other flights you would be available for?
Also, I will look over the next week to see what flights I want to take, Bob and I have to pick ours, but usually we end up doing the ones others don't want.

Tickets are purchased and I am starting to get pretty excited about WF this year! If any of you folks have pictures of the facility, lets post a few in a new thread so the new guys can see what they are in for. I thought I had a bunch but it seems I do not. I will keep looking. Also we are starting to talk about a menu so if you have ideas lets get them.
Would LOVE to post pics of the sim, Sam and the facility. Is that ok with Sam? If so, I have some pics.. ;-)

You can make your donations and please send me proof of donation to keep your place on the schedule. CLICK HERE (http://worldflight.cockpitbuilders.com/donate.html)
For those of you outside of the USA please hang tight, as they need to update the campaign to allow international donations.

Are there any special instructions or comments that have to be added so it is shown as our total?
Hi Kyle, No none this year as the campaign ID of 34 is strictly for us.. This is how they track the total.

What is the standard pilot donation?
I'll be away on a worktrip from this afternoon til the end of September, so I'll take care of mine when I get back.

Hi Doug,
This year and past years we didn't set a minimum. Many of us can afford different levels of donations. All we ask is to consider how many flights you will be making and what that experience would cost you normally if you were to have to purchase it and make your donation accordingly.
What you can afford (no more-No Less)
Our goal is to raise as much if not more than last years total of $3,000.00 USD. I know we are late this year, but I would love to see $5K for this years donation total.
Trev
Hey Trevor,
Couple of things,
I will split my donation into 2 or 3 parts.
When will donations be open to the public? I want to post a link on my Facebook page as I already have friends that said they will donate. :)
Rob
Hi Rob,
They are open to the public now, but I am still waiting for them to change the Campaign to allow foreign donations. right now it seems to be only open to USA Residence.

Hey Trevor,
Do we have anyway to see how we are doing against our donation goal as a team...like a big thermometer or something?
I would be happy to generate a spreadsheet and associated graphic if we have a place to post it...maybe facebook?
GH
Hi Greg sorry sadly no. The only way is for us to email ACH and get updates. The hard part is the communication with ACH is very hit and miss. I have been trying with Bob to get them to allow international donations and that seems to be going by the wayside. This is now our third year with the all children's hospital and I would have thought communication would have gotten better unfortunately it has gone the other way.
That's ok though, I am sure they will get it sorted out soon.
Trev
Sorry to hear ACH is not easy to deal with.
We could still build a tracker based on the reported donations to you if that is of interest.
I could post the graphic to the Facebook page once a week.
Not a big deal, but if you decide you want one, let me know and I'll be glad to generate it.
GH
I appreciate it Greg, Thanks.

Hi Guys,
In preparation for our WFT2015 I found this helpful video that describes and minimizes pilot workload, the checklist we have on the simulator is the original checklist supplied by Boeing similar to this one but without this changes but I believe this video is crucial to have an understanding of flows and procedures.

Hey Sam,
I should have the revised checklists for you soon.
I'll also have a training document done to go with it sometime after.
I'm also about halfway finished with the ATC Workflow diagram to assist those of us who are afflicted with the dreaded Mic-Fright.
Awesome Kyle and Ray, we appreciate your efforts, I'm sure is going to be a great event thanks to all of you!
That's awesome guys! All of that help is appreciated. Looking forward to seeing that info.

Whats a CDU,PFD ND and EICAS??? ;D
Time to relearn the new LOL Luckily I had no life so the 2500+ hrs playing in the NG will come back in hurry, I hope
Rob
LOL Hilarious Rob, I think you are too use to the STEAM 737. Careful, you might fall in love with the NG over the 100/300 LOL
Just got back from Tokyo - body clock is broken
I read Delta's B738 flows and checklists on the flight from Tokyo - since we do use their call sign afterall, might as well use their flows.
I'll post the Delta FCOM and checklists in a dropbox later today once I get some sleep...
Hi Doug,
We'll be using our own checklist based on the Boeing ones that Sam uses, with some slight modifications. I think they're better suited to the experience level of most of our pilots than the Delta ones.
I'll be sending them out soon.
Could I get a copy of the checklist if anyone has it uploaded just to familiarize myself. I'm sure it doesn't change much from the ones I have seen, but just something to look at.
Hi Colin,
I'll send out a copy and an accompanying procedures document when I get home tomorrow or Tuesday
