Title: sims.
Post by: brissydave on September 23, 2009, 03:59:03 AM
I used to build alot.

Then maybe once in a while i would crank up all the pc's and fly my half made monster that stank of glues and paint....yawn.

Fly the glideslope down my fav airport..sigh....front projector only giving a small view, bits would sometimes fall off because they shouldnt have been in the sim really, but i wanted to have a fly with the new 'super part' in place to see how it would feel etc......

hence flying a half made pit was... well...great..but also made me a bit sad and frustrated.

then i had the sim finished enough (they can never be fully done of course) and it was well... "fun".

then.....i discovered flying to real procedure whilst online with vatsim.

holy shit... sweat dripping down your back...cockpit workloads....scary stuff!!!

no way possible would i dream of attempting to fly without a second person in the sim.

thats when flying the sim actually got me. throw in an awesome
scenery of your favorite home town airport to land at after a big flight and hey presto...a real experience.

i sat back a few times and watched other guys fly the sim online. (i'd eat chips and drink beer while they were hard at it).

everything worked as it should and they had a great time.

"does the bla bla actually work?" .new guys would say during preflight a long trip
yep...sure does...i would reply.
"great!"

anyway...traffic all around..atc calling out orders...two pilots in my sim chatting to each other about if they are game enough to shoot a rnav approach...it doesnt get any better than that for me. ;)

Hey just curious.. Do you know if Project Magenta software is capable of shooting RNAV approaches? I havn't had my software up and running in a long time and i forget what it was even capable of.

Well, we were using some approach plates and the guys were plugging some things into the cdu to get it to happen.
