Welcome aboard Tim

Just check Warren answer to a previous newcomer in the "Attention All Members and Guests" post.

My two cents, (beyond searching the Forum) go for a generic twin instead of a 172, more scope for the future.

Try different "airplanes" with a joystick, a mouse and a keyboard and see from your experience if they fly properly. Once you made up your mind on one, get a proper Avionics software like:

http://www.projectmagenta.com/ifr_software/ (http://www.projectmagenta.com/ifr_software/)

Check the site, download demo, manuals and read.

This will answer a lot of questions
It is easier than you think and we wil be glad to help.

Jack

Welcome aboard Tim. I am nearby to you in Madison Georgia. Be glad to help you anyway I can. It's a great hobby even if we are considered a little nuts.
