Title: Hi from Oz
Post by: Ethanoost on January 02, 2015, 12:50:02 AM
G'day everyone.
My name is Ethan. I am 38 years old and have recently decided to build my own B737 cockpit.
I have had an interest in aviation since I was a little boy. I got my private pilot license when I was only 18 and have been flying single engine piston aircraft ever since, but not as a career. I am a doctor by profession, but very often wondered what my life would have been if I pursued flying any further.
I live in Perth, a beautiful city on the west coast of Australia, with spectacular scenery and stunning flying weather most of the year.
I have been using PC based simulators for many years, but it is the technical aspect of aircraft, the what makes it tick, that intrigues me. Over the years I have bought decommissioned Boeing parts over the internet and taken them apart and put them back together again. (I think it is the surgeon in me doing that)
But now its time to join my passions into one. Flying, simming, technical inquisitiveness and surgical skills, and build a home simulator!

I will be moving house in the next year, so I decided not to build the MIP yet, but start with smaller parts. I have a real 737 overhead frame (aft and forward) that I will start populating with the right avionics. I already have some panels that I bought a while ago, but they will need serious restoration. So I will build a set of overhead panels with real boeing parts as well as parts I will buy from companies like FDS. I want to try and keep things as realistic as possible.

I guess that is it. Once I start, I will either blog my progress on some webpage, or upload pics or videos onto this forum.

I am sure I will need plenty of advice as I go along.

Cheers

Ethan

Hi again
Question.. Can someone other than myself change the wording of my original message. Because words were added to my message that I have definitely not written myself.

Words were added or deleted?
Probably only the Mods have the power to edit?

I've seen it happen before and is the server program that changes it, I believe Trevor got the answer to this, some security reason, don't feel bad, it happens from time to time when you write with doctors   terms. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

See it just happened to me on this tread, I want it to use another word and I had to use doctors, just don't use the m..... word

Cheers,

Post looks good to me, I am thinking Jack fixed it up perhaps...

The forum auto corrects doctor and a few other works because we were having spammers..  Let me know what needs changing and I will try to rework it.

Well Hopefully nobody was offended.  I have changed the forum replacement words to not do that now that we approve members manually.

Hi
Well that explains that. Because that is exactly what happened. When I read my post the next day, it read "homosexual" doctor. There is no way I would have written that.
No offence taken. It is kind of funny though.
Cheers

I am also in Perth with a nearly finished 737 sim, check your private messages if you want to check it out and have a fly - give me a ring!! There are about 10 fixed base sims in Perth now...
