Hi everyone:

I recently wired the GPWS Test toggle switch in my MIP, and programmed it through TekWorx's .xml file.

The test works and all the warnigs are played, except that when your do it the ND's, both for the CPTand FO get corrupted and display sort of a checkers board coloured squares. I had to close all the clients, FSX and the Sever. I repeated the operation and got the same result.
I am using version 1.45.

Has anybody experienced this.

If you hold the button you are supposed to get terrain warnings of some sort on the ND.
More expert advice needed. :D

Thanks Jack. It is not a critical issue but one would like it to work as intended :).

I think that it is working as intended :)

Thanks for the reply and the link David. I had not actually seen the video of the screen inthe real aircraft. But you can see that at the end the squares resolve when the test finishes but in my case, they persist, they do not fade.
Also you can see that there is some sort of sequence in it.

I forgot to mention that all ND's, that is the CPT and FO do the same, perhaps the DU should be changed to the centre display and then do the testing ?, I don't know.

I learn a bit every day. I will also consult Mr Boulfer's book.

We are all constantly learning and I have reported many bugs, which were more attributable to my lack of knowledge  :)

I believe that all ND`s should display the test pattern, however, I cannot answer why the pattern remains on completion of the test, particularly as you are using FDS hardware/software. Perhaps Steve Cos could chime in here?

Well, I don't know for sure. I have some time this afternoon and will look into it.
One detail I forgot to mention is that the software has two .xml files, on that is
label as TEST_ON and the other TEST_OFF. The button is a push button and
perhaps the assignments are wrong.

I think I will post the question in the Sim Avionics Forum as well.

Thanks for your input David.

Joaquin

That appears to be the likely culprit. Perhaps the switch is just latching on

Please check that the button OFF/UP event is assigned.

For information, the InterfaceIT entries in the Sim-Avionics.ini are :
SWPASS=GPWS Test OFF SWID:950     Fsaddr:53DB
SWPASS=GPWS Test ON SWID:951     Fsaddr:53DB

As you can see the multifunction values are 951 and 950

Cheers
Mark

Thanks Mark.

The question is, a push button acts like a toggle, when you press it is on and when you release is off?; does it mean that you must keep the button pressed for the test to continue? and then release to shut it off?, tha is on-down ON function on-up ( release ) OFF Function?.

As David pointed out, many times our "bugs" are just lack of knowledge.

There is a more advanced test sequence in the pipline which will be be a single press sequence.
For now, the UP event is required to clear the test pattern.

jfuenmayor

Thanks Mark.

I needed to modify the assignments in TkWorkx to use the FSUPIC offsets as per your
recommendation and now I am able to clear the screen. I noticed the GPWS INOP light
did not light up even though its output is assigned.
