Title: Hello from Tacoma Wa.
Post by: jr2mey on March 15, 2015, 05:49:45 AM
Hi all,

I cant say as I'm new to this site as I have been lurking quietly for several years, reading everyone's posts in envy.

I have been a flight simmer for many years ( almost 15 ) and even had got to know Bob Reed while he was working with another flight sim forum site. Then about seven years ago had to put the hobby on the back burner due to some life changing events. During that time, I lurked around the usual sites, dreaming of one day being able to start my hobby up again. So here I am, seven years later, finding my itch for simulator flying not dissipated but growing AND now able to start it up again!

I have fired up the Project Magenta software, and now completing the overheard programing. ( been thinking about using "Ifly cockpit builders edition" )  I still have to build my MIP panels and start looking at my visual options for my man cave that is going to hold the simulator. ( no, not trying to start up that debate here either! ) LOL

Look forward to reading others posts and ideas again!

James

Welcome to the Group James..

Bob and I have been doing this site since 2008, so I gather we started this site just after you went on Hiatus.

Trevor, That sounds about right for when your site come online.  I tried getting back into flight when I bought Bob's 737 throttles, but that didn't last....single parenthood absorbs LOTS of your time!  LOL Did you ever get away from your CRJ and build the 737; was it???  Watching you and BOB on world flight was the last straw I could stand and began my work on my sim again.  I have included a pic of where it currently stands as of today.

Geneb, I have noticed since my return, several people within our PNW area that have joined the community.  I had no idea that this hobby would continue to grow as it has!  That's a great thing!

Back to the man cave!

Nice Pic, and It was a Falcon900EX  Similar to the CRJ but with 3 engines LOL.  I did go on to build the 737, however I ended up getting a line on a real Twin Engine Shell, so I sold the 737 and moved on to the King Air 350i.

Loving every minute of it.

In any case, I am looking forward to seeing your build progress..  World flight really is the Cats Meow of why we do this stuff. What a Rush, but I am glad you were able to watch us..

Wow, I had no idea that there were as many locals as there are!  When I was doing this hobby so many years ago, I don't recall having anyone in this area.... huh!  Nice though!

Nice Pic Ray!  How long did it take for you to build her?

What is so nice about this addiction these days, is that I now have woman who is an enabler to my hobby!  It makes being on "the dark side" so much more enjoyable!
