Hi All..  Guess what! VERSION 1.5 is now available with GMAP Support. EFB2004 (Electronic Flight Bag for FS2004) is a software-based display system intended primarily for the simulated cockpit or flight deck. It virtually does away with the need for paper charts and other physical copies of documents such as aircraft operating manuals, performance data, approach charts and checklists.

NicD and the Oz Team737 run this software in their cockpit.  You will see it in the video feed, during world flight.

In real world aviation EFB devices usually consist of software and hardware (hand-held tablet PC or integrated display). They can display a variety of aviation functions that in the past were traditionally accomplished using paper references. EFB systems may be approved to replace some of the bulky hard copy material that pilots typically carry in their flight bags. They can be found in everything from light single-engine props to multi-engine jet airliners.

LMFAO...  Sorry Mau..  Meybe I am the one with the Walker now..  I just got a new computer and it still won't run FSX as good as I would like to see it run..  I have to turn everything off to get it to work at 20 Frames..  and then it is the same as FS9 which runs at 80+ Frames..

Pout.. Pout...  Pout...  LOL

I'm sorry for your 'disability'. I guess your 'young brain cells' have yet to figure out that the past is the past and that you need to move on, whatever it takes. Us old folks don't have time to waste fiddling around with antiques when the 'young stuff' is out there tempting us.

It's a pure urban myth that you can't buy happiness, and that is perpetrated by the people who have no money, so I intend to buy all the happiness I can afford, which unfortunately is not that much. A PC able to run FSX was one of the purchases.  :P

Just as I thought...no dedication at all.  ::) I bet you could have persuaded/forced Tracy to work 3 jobs if you really, really wanted FSX.  And Tracy, don't bother flaming me... my shields are up and my old skin is tough as leather, or at least looks like it.  ;D

Probably, but she is severely delusional, so I wouldn't listen to what she says. And I maintain that if you tell a lie long enough, you start to believe it and I certainly believe it now.

HOWEVER, I have developed many clever tactics along the years and I get what I want one way or another. No, I'm not selling my tactics or she could get wind of them and the party would be over for me. Lucky for me she doesn't read this forum or any others for that matter.

On a more serious & topical matter, why isn't this contraption from Nic able to work with FSX?    Nic??

What a freeking laugh...  Man, you now you would be dead meat is she ever did read this.. so thats all that matters...

To answer your question...  I am not sure if this software is the exact some ase the one Nic is using, but I believe it is..  Personally I believe it communicated with FS for position data on the map, and I doubt it really makes a difference if it is FS9 or FSX..  I know they say FS9, but I really don't see why it wouldn't work in FSX.

I was really excited when I saw this on my iPhone after you posted it, but until I got home i didn't really understand that it was not a stand-alone unit to integrate into the cockpit.

I've been thinking about replacing the chart holder in the window sill with an EFB and I thought this might be it.

Cool software though.

Hmmm.. does it operate as a gauge then?  I would have thought you could install it on it's own PC using WideFS..

But then again I haven't read about it.  They have a version for X-Plane, and FS9 and FSX so i would have thought it was stand alone. Especially cause you load it with the PDF Charts.

If you havent seen the Kindle then you need to check it out along with Readerplates.com.   This is the wave of the future in the GA Cockpit I think and it would be really cool in the simulator.   I may get one of these eventually.   The Kindle is really designed for downloading and reading books but it is great for approach plates as you can see.  Very easy on the eyes also.

That's not what I meant Trevor. I thought it was a piece of stand-alone hardware.

I think I read that it runs as a module within FS, not a guage. In that regard then I guess it's a stand-alone software program.

Now that's what I'm talking about.

I need Euro charts though and to completely eliminate the paper I need Hi-Altitude en-route too. I don't think I'll be able to find those without sending my first born to Jeppeson.

Ok... This is not the software that Nic uses.. But you can run it on a seperate PC. I looked at this some time ago and it was ok. Nic's is far better but I do not know if Nic's is available to the public.

Hello!
We use FSWidgets EFB 2004 in our simulator. It's really nice and a great companion on our flights. Yes you can use networked or standard version. It has its own network program and doesn't require WideFS. It's a very good way to organize charts, manuals, checklists and so on. We have around 600 airports from all over the globe in our database and numerous enroute charts, lists of ICAO codes and so on. Yes you can have all this without using the EFB but it's a very nice way to organize everything. We use ICAO names as foldernames so it's easy to find the appropriate charts.

I recommend it.   ;D

There are some limitations in the networked version though but it's no big deal.
