Hi,
I am building a new system and current mother boards seem to have 8 ports. So was wondering if it would be better to run my remaining usb devices directly from the pc ports or add another hub. Currently
using a 7 port hub for my 20 odd gauges. I know it has the drawback
of more cables but are what the pc does is just like another ext hub.
Hub i use are industrial types with many TT's built in.
Comments appreciate.
Thanks
Les

Guys,
I will put the question this way round. How many of you are using all your usb ports to drive things and then adding hubs if necessary .
Thanks

I prefer to go straight off the motherboards USB but have found that if your cable gets to long issues present themselves.  I use a powered hub when the run is too long (more than 15ft for me).

I add industrial powered hubs when necessary. (Typically ones with dedicated transaction handlers per port. ) never had any issues using this approach.  When I discovered how easy it was to add microcontrollers to interface with xplane, I run out of USB ports at an alarming rate.
