by completion i mean no tinkering ..a fully flyable fully interoperative sim ...

kurt-olsson

Have about 85% of the OEM stuff collected -seats.
Have only done the MCP (which i want to redo for the 9th time)
And one OEM panel is interfaced.

I just bought a house with a simroom, so i hope i can do a normal-ops flight in one year from now.

navymustang

Three years and I am 90% complete. Need to finish intercoms and radio so that I can communicate with VATSIM, minor work on main panel, co-pilot circuit breaker panel and finally - the HGS (HUD). Expect to be done by Christmas.

It is flyable now.
My 737-800 full-scale cockpit has been sold. Now onto my full-size military helicopter project. An AOPA member and LifeTime member of National Association of Flight Instructors. Please note that I am a self-employed professional cockpit builder that provides consulting to defense contractors and civilian schools and airlines.

FredK

Pretty well complete here.  Activities going forward will be involved with maintenance, software upgrades, and improvements for the most part.

As many of you have said before..."is a sim ever finished?"

I am so glad to have been a member of forums, not only for their info, but for the words of wisdom.

I thought, in order to enjoy my sim to the max, it needed to be finished exactly as I had it in my head.

Then I read some great stories and advice (mainly from this forum) about getting that idea straight and just flying your sim.

So, I tailored my approach.
I now have a 90% sim (according to my mind) and I factor in scheduled maintenance, where I fix and update software and hardware.
It's been a godsend, giving me a real lift, mentally.

I've done two full tours in my sim and half way through a third. I've documented them via youtube. The feedback has been great and finally my family and friends have stopped asking..."when are you gonna finish that sim?..."

I would say - 80%. I still need to interface the pedestal, right now I use radio and nav through CDU.
Tomorrow I am going to Frank's sim to check his readiness.  ;) :D

My beech was about 100% complete (At least flyable without that nagging thought "Oh yeah.. still need to wire that up.)

However, sometimes I find a gem on eBay or a generous friend sends something I've been looking for and into the hangar she goes. Recently I scored a Beech 1900D Center MIP (Radios, Audio panel, dual Garmin 530s) so after some upcoming fly-ins over the Summer she'll go back into the hangar for a few weeks.

I am probably at the 75% complete mark, some of the functions of my Aircraft can;t be reproduced (IE Air/con and cabin Heat)etc.  Still have a lot to go to get past the 80% mark.

RayS

Hey Trevor,

I've got working eyeball vents in the MIP that blast air as well as an adjustable fan controls on the first officers' ENV panel. Things can get quite hot in the pit after running all that gear on long flights so having that ventilation is handy.

Lol when it is -40 outside it's pretty hard to control my gas fired salamander from a knob when it had a BBQ style lighter on it. I spend the summers on the boat and at the camper. Don't get much sim time in. I don't even have A/C in my house let alone in the sim :)

Yes with the right amount of money anything is possible.

Thanks guys.

Here is my story:

2015 I thought I was complete. I attended with some colleagues Worldflight ans was infrequent Online-Flying with VATSIM, I had a propper man's-cage with coffee-machine and fridge. All papers and books (Bulfer`s cockpit guide etc.) stored to use on the boards.... Somehow I got a feeling there is a lack of certain input. I asked myself is everything right I'm doing with this luxurious equipement? KBOS-KJFK or KORD or LSZH-EGLL is no problem. I wanted some external inpunt from professionals.
I booked 4h on a Level 4 Sim with FI. I met a friendly man, he unterstood my needs and I got some good lessons. Some new insights in basic flying skills and some inspirations for better use of the Sim. Back at home two major things were annoying, especially in circling training sessions: lack of a real 180° Visual and coarse trimming capabilities of my throttle (REVSim), things adressed in various boards before: speedcontrol with pm (which is infact not in this extend with pm is a real problem of the 737NG..), overblending effect of the beamers in night flights.
New adventure: optimizing Visual and new Throttle. All in all I worked 12 month on this issues...
Now I have a C4Y, finally I'm happy with it and with some external help I was able to realize th 180° Visual with FS-Elise Calibration Pro (Good program, a improved Instruction & Documentation is desperately needed). What´s missing next?
I wonder... What I will say with this story: See it like a adventure and keep fun with it and mind the steps.....

Regards

Hi gents,

MIP is completed, and I have all genuine HW so far: my TQ is motorized, my OVHD is cleaned from dust and dirt... needs wiring of course.
Yes, (too) looong time ago since my last HP update ...  :-[

At the moment I'm working on my wooden sidewalls, and fixing the OVHD frame on the ceiling.

My further plans are: completing the shell by the end of the year. Start wiring to SimStack and programming all features next year. Let's see if this will work ...  :o

Cheers
Hans

Hi,
my glare is from FDS - no Arinc here. Later - in my pedestal - I will try to connect radios to SimStack Arinc board.
I added motor to my TQ and Speedbrake. Pics of this should be on my HP soon.
Cheers Hans

hi Hans    with motor how did you deal with TOGA and the speed ..

B747-400

hi bernard,

I'm using a DOGA motor. Some more details in this thread: http://aerowinx.com/board/index.php?topic=3906.msg40961#msg40961
I've the 12 V version - enough power to move the levers, even in vertical position of the TQ (for maintenance)  ;)
Later on will drive them via SimStack.

Cheers
