Title: Seat Rail idea...
Post by: sagrada737 on October 19, 2013, 03:13:59 PM
For those who may need to fabricate a Seat Rail setup for their enclosed cockpit, these "Curved Rail" systems may be a viable solution.  I plan on using something like this, as it seems that it would be easy to apply to this application.

There are a few companies offering such solutions.  Here is a link to a potential supplier:

I looked at this idea too with a similar system, and when I got a price on it, the components for one rail were more than a full set of genuine J-rails!  :(

Aerosim Solutions will be marketing a new J rail system early in 2014! The prototype pair are fitted to my simulator so check out my photo album here - http://www.cockpitbuilders.com/community/index.php?action=media;sa=album;in=21;nw;start=15 (http://www.cockpitbuilders.com/community/index.php?action=media;sa=album;in=21;nw;start=15) I have accepted quite a few pre production orders already and if If all goes to plan two sets for both seats in DIY kit form will be priced about AUD$850 + shipping!!!

Thanks for the status Gwyn.  The quality of your workmanship is beautiful and well refined.  I may get on the list for a set of your rails.  Any hard time frame for shipping?

By the way...   The progress on your current Sim project is truly inspiring.  Thanks for sharing so many detailed photos and status, as it is a huge help for others to visualize the possibilities for their own flight deck.

Cheers Mike, much appreciated!  :)

I am negotiating with an offshore manufacturer to keep the price as low as possible and I expect to be placing an order for components towards the end of November. The last order I did with this company (20 x B737 trim wheels) took about 3 weeks to arrive so hopefully I will have the components before the end of the year ready to ship.
