Post by: nic on November 23, 2018, 08:35:12 AM
Hello Cockpitbuilders !

I hope you are well.

I have just bought a used 737 simulator. The follwing software is out of date:
instructor station by PM i believe
mfd and nd by PM
upper and lower eicas by thomas richter?
cdu i dont know who it is by
pm sounds

I would like to ask for your recommendations for the most economical software to cover all these areas.

Thanks for your guidance.

Hi Nic,

Bernard is right, if it works why change? Besides, Project Magenta software works fine and you have about $2,000+ US worth of software loaded there... Just update it all with current versions of PM.

Turn all computers on, then run the PM file checker program, it'll tell you everything you have along with the version numbers.

However, if you're absolute on changing, go with ProSim737.

Thanks Bsd and Bernard,
The Project Magenta CPT/FO PFD and ND go black after some time and have swirling logos on them, so i think they are expired? The "thomas richer" SW EICAS upper and lower has not valid licence that i am sure. but i dont think it exists anymore to update? what is a replacement.
To answer your question, it is not operational, Thank for your guidance on pm file checker sw.
Thank you

Could I ask if there is a better software to connect to vatsim than squarkbox?
It has been 10 years since I last connected...I am sure things progressed.... :0)
Thanks for your help.

Project Magenta builds never expire, they are just update-able  if you want so.
I stopped updating at one point as all builds were working fine on my sim...lasted years of trouble free flying.

You may also ask advice from the seller of your sim.
;)

VPilot available from VATSIM is what you want.

Hi Nic,

If you have the PM PFD/ND software, you already have the EICAS upper and lower. You have to change the screens to reflect the EICAS you want using the F-keys. Try it with one of the PFD/ND screen's computer keyboard, you'll see.

Next, can you describe your setup, which computer(s) do what in regards to PM? As for the TR software, that is used to give the AP/AP/AT buttons, the Six Packs and the Caution and Fire Buttons on the Glareshield to work.

The Project Magenta logo is showing up when the screen saver is running, you just need too turn this function off. Also, did you get the manuals from PM yet? If not, you need to download it and give it a quick read, then you'll fully understand a little more...

John

PS when the owner purchased the PM software, he would've had an account email address he used and a password. Did you get that email when you purchased everything? As for the password, you can request a new one via forgotten password function.

Thanks All for the warm welcome, especially John!
Thanks for the advice ref Vpilot Ken and thanks John for the advice ref F buttons for PM EIcas.

Could I ask where I can download or update the TR software? Or find a tee placement way to make the ap lights on the MIp work.

I will have more questions when I get back to the sim on the 8th Dec.i hope you don't mind if I pick your brains.

All the best
Nick
