Hi all,
This post is mainly for those that run PM with FDS CDUs.
So the question is can you run 2xFDS CDUs from a single PC with Project Magenta; by using a graphics card with dual outputs of course?
Thanks,
Joe.
Hi Joe,
If you do not want the second FDS CDU Keyboard to function you can do this. But you would have to use some kind of a VGA Y cable to get the image to work.
Your best option is to run the Left and RCDU software on the same PC and copy the config file for the monitors to each instance of the software.
each software will function correctly on the same PC.

Hi Trev,
I asked the same question on the FDS forum and Jack came back with an answer that he rums 6 monitors off a single PC. But I believe he runs with SimAvionics not PM.
I would like them both to work independently, seems a shame to shell out all that money to have only one fully working. :(
I originally had two Open Cockpit CDUs running as you suggested, which reminds me I must dust them off and get them sold. 8)
Here's a couple of pics of my just about finished Cockpit.
Thanks
Joe.
I run 7 displays off a single PC. Main 4 displays are off the video card. ISFD off the onboard graphics My two FMCs are run using VGA to USB cables. Work flawlessly. But that is with SimA.
I think the main problem is that Project Magenta uses OpenGL and I'm not sure if you can have two instances of that running on a single PC.
Incidentally I'm going to need 6 PCs if I can't find a way to run more than one display per PC. In fact it might end up being 8. :-)

I run 3 separate instances of PMGC on one computer with 3 monitors :)
Hi Trev,
That would be awesome, I've been using a separate PC for each display.
Tell me do you simply click on the same PMGC three times, or do you have three copies of the PMGC installed?

I copy the program into 3 Separate folders (PFD, FOPFD and EICAS) Each has the pfd.ini file setup differently, and I just launch them independently.
When closed qith the "Q" Key each remembers the monitor it was last on and reopens as it was when you shut it down.
No reason you couldn't do this with the CDU and RCDU as long as its legit the RCDU Software, as it communicates with the main CDU software.

Thanks again Trevor,
I've already weeded out a PC with 3 monitor ports. I'm going to run the Pilot and FO's PD and NAV, and also the Eicas from that machine. Then I'll do as you suggest and see if it works with the CDU's.
If that runs okay, I can cut my PC numbers down dramatically. I was planning on 7 PC's possibly 8 but using your method I think I can manage with 3 or 4.

My whole sim runs on 3 PC's.
1.Flightsim / pm mcp / streaming / pmsounds /atc
2. PFD / EICAS/ RADIO / FOPFD
3. PMCDU and RCDU if required
