Title: FS9 FOV help
Post by: G-BVOB on March 13, 2011, 03:05:43 AM
Good morning folks,

Apologies if this is an old chestnut, and I'm being a bit slow, but I've been going round in circles trying to find an answer online. :idiot:

I'm running a 3 projector setup through an analogue Matrox TH2Go and have set up FSX with 3 windows each giving a 60 degree FOV. That was quite easy given the amount of info available on line. However frame rates are a little inconsistent, so I'm considering buying another PC and splitting the workload (aarrrggghhh will there ever be a time we can stop the constant chase after better hardware).

I'm now trying to get a similar setup in FS9 to see if that version will provide a suitable alternative to FSX while I wait to find that elusive month when money for a PC is not highjacked for road tax, insurance, wife, kids ........

However I cannot find a simple guide in plain English as to how to set up 3 windows in FS9 to give a 180 degree FOV - any promising looking links are dead. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Jon

Hi Sean,

Thanks for that, was the business. I thought I'd better wait 'till the rugby was over before starting work. Fortunately still in good spirits after the end of the match (just!  ::) Roll on at the Aviva next week)

I've got the image 95% aligned - once the next version of Immersive Display Lite with the edge blending is available I'll get it tweaked a bit more.

Thanks again, just what the doctor ordered. Off to go testing now

Sean,

Perhaps if you have some information you could attach it to your post? (attachement options under modify post) you can add .zip files or pictures, or Pdf's.

Just asking..

I think this takes the hole point of a forum out the window, what is the point of creating a thread that let's everybody know that a piece of not revealed information solved a problem?

Sharing would be helpfull, just my thought.

Cheers.

I didn't upload the document I sent to Jon as it's not written by me and I couldn't remember how I got hold of it. I didn't want to upload someone else's work without first checking it was already available on the net.

After a long and arduous search  ;), I've finally discovered how I got it and am now happy to upload it for general viewing.

Thanks again Sean  :), and sorry if you've wound up spending more time than anticipated for your good deed. I owe you a few beers next time we meet.

Totally understood Sean, and thanks again for attaching it.  Glad you jogged your memory.  For me, that isn't as easy as it use to be. LOL
