Title: Yup
Post by: Bob Reed on December 12, 2011, 08:45:19 AM
So if things are not already tight enough around here, got up this morning and checked the bank account... Empty, yup... Someone in St. Petersburg Florida is enjoying my money..... So much for paying things like the rent, power and water..... Got to love what this world has come to.

Yup cleaned out the account. How does it happen? No idea I have NEVER been to FLorida and I have NEVER bought anything from Target. Looks like somewhere someone cloned my card and sold it. And since stores are no longer able to ask for ID how are they supposed to tell who the card belongs to?

Sorry to hear that. Well at least it's a card. Insured for fraud etc. Hopefully?

A long time ago, someone used my visa card number (I still had my card so it was a bogus card) to buy a valentine gift on Feb 14th somewhere in New York to the tune of $6,000 US or about $9,000 Canadian at that time.

Since I had never been to New York at that time, the bank refunded the money after a short investigation. I hope the banks in the U.S. act in the same way & refund your money soon.

Update. It was my wife's card and she never uses it! Turns out the bank was calling customers to tell them that this had happened. So looks like the bank is at fault. I would say their system has been compromised!! Not that it will help get my account straightened out any faster......

Wow, all I know is they have to find a way to fix it..  That really sucks.  I can only imagine how many people this would affect.  Hang in there bud.
