Thanks all for the swift and helpful answers.
looks like I'll have windows then.... ;) :D

While I'm waiting for another circuit card to arrive, I put together a little test circuit that will drive the landing Gear lever latch relay.

Hi Ray, is that video available for download somewhere? My landing gear lever mechanism has something similar and I've never seen the working of it until now. Would be good to have as reference.

Another couple of items finished for the flight deck,

I made a set of clipboards for them and even added a couple of dummy trip counters... well they fill the holes and didn't cost me anything to make.
They're not as pretty as the ACE ones, but I've calculated they cost me about ten percent of the price of those so I'm happy to accept the rough edges.  ;)

On to the next section.... :)

I've been busy over the weekend.

Made some new panels, mocked up one of the back wall breaker panels and installed the first set of pedals.

Not sure what went wrong with the colour of the Oxy panel it doesn't kook like that in the flesh.
Onward and upward... getting there slowly.

In case you're wondering the back wall panel is a copy of images sent  to me by "navymustang"  See below!
I decide to use black screw caps instead of the sticky labels, I think they look better, just my opinion of course!

Good work !
Colors are hard to manage with digit cameras sometimes.

Joe Lavery

Thanks Jack,

It's the first time I've used Emulsion paint and both panels were painted from the same tin. So you're correct digital pics are difficult to get the right colours.

I am wondering.  :idiot:
Can I get a copy of those images too?

What I did to my simulator last days? Nothing but flying. :)

Next Friday getting on real 737 (WestJet) transatlantic flight to London, and then to Dubai and Brisbane on A380.

Nick,

Private message me your email and I'll send you a dropbox link for the images.  I don't imagine Jim would have a problem with that.

Testing the overhead frame stand this past weekend. It isn't exactly pretty, but it works. :)

Spent the weekend with a good friend installing and calibrating new 1080P projectors. Was going to install all 3 but opted for 2, since lack of ceiling clearance would make 3 nearly impossible.

That is indeed a superb work of art!

Errrr...Except for the pilots and passengers that look like they are from another world.

Extremely tired of my project right now... thought about selling everything but will of ofcourse not so this. Hoping my passion will return...

jackpilot

Maybe revise your priorities if you  see no end to your build.
The OEM route is probably the most demanding, if ever realistic for a first sim.
Better spend your money on a good avionics package, hook up your MIP to screens and computers and FLY it with good old FSX.

Get this one for dirt cheap and revive your passion !!

Understand your point but thats not me.

I am all or nothing! :)

Its only the full OEM unfortunatly that intrests me to this hobby.

blueskydriver

Hi Peter,

Where have I heard that before..."it's all or nothing!"? Uh, out of my very own lips...lol! Yep, that is called OCD and the best thing too say to you is this. Don't stop at all; instead, look for even the smallest thing you can do with your project or fix something you want to change.

My point is you will start selling things off and regret about it later. Even though I have been selling things off with no regrets, I ask myself how I got 3 sims without flying for two years now? My answer, it's because buying everything gave me a connection to flying, whereas I should've just setup a desktop sim and kept flying. Now, as of today, I am still not flying and trying to get my original sim back up, but I let everything else in life get in the way, where in the past the sim building/flying kept me from doing everything else.

So, in agreeing with Jack, look at a priority issue to do with your current sim and try to fix that, then repeat that over and over. Plus, I would add, go visit other builders or go to a simulator show. Either way, just keep your sim going and don't stop flying...

Once the structure is completed in v1.0 and all the OEM sits in the right place. I will start with panel by panel. Yokes and throttle first just so i can fly.

I have to visit scott or robs sim, that will boost my building for a couple of years! Hehe

Jason L

Ray,
How many degrees of view are you getting with your 2 projectors?  I just picked up 2 darbee's and was hoping I could squeak out close to 180 with them.  I know my main PC can handle 2, but whenever I jump to 3 projectors will probably need to switch to a secondary pc to help with the visuals.

RayS

I'm only getting about 110 degrees with 2 new projectors. Ironically a little less with the new ones than with the old ones but that's ok. Once I'm able to move the sim to a bigger headquarters I'll have the clearance for all 3 projectors and I anticipate roughly 200 degrees FOV. My OCD is getting the best of me though because I can still see slight differences between projectors so I may bite the bullet and learn how to do edge-blending.

You may be able to get 180 degrees with 2 projectors but you'll really have to move them back, which could cause shadows from your sim structure.

I've been there, Kurt...  trust me.  Try assembling and disassembling your sim three times and moving it from Colorado to Germany, then back to Washington State, then on to Florida in the space of eight years.  Of course each time is a new adventure as you upgrade and fine-tune.

This last rebuild is taking every ounce of motivation I (and my family) have.

My advice...  find a sim to fly, even if for just thirty minutes to get you back into the mindset.  I've flown other community members sims on my travels; I've tapped into contacts that run real sims; I've even jumped into the sim at Frankfurt airport in between flights!

If you haven't already, maybe book a couple of sessions here:  http://www.flygsimulator.nu/.

Then get your sim to a flyable state.  You don't need all the panels.  Add them as you can.

Hope that helps

That is actually a really good idea warren. Of i get a smell of what my results will be like i might get a kick and start building/interfacing.

The last structure work before interfacing is coming up this weekend. Then all my OEM except the fmc is in the right place. I wont bother with liners if i dont find cheap real ones on ebay that i can mount.

Hm... good my interest back by this conversation. Will try to interface just roll and elevation of my yokes so i atleast can fly. :)
