My 737-800 full-scale cockpit has been sold. Now onto my full-size military helicopter project. An AOPA member and LifeTime member of National Association of Flight Instructors. Please note that I am a self-employed professional cockpit builder that provides consulting to defense contractors and civilian schools and airlines.

That's pretty cool, Bernard! I love the old phones :-) My wife and I frequent the local Goodwill store as sometimes one can find amazing treasures. I could keep an eye out for you for the original-style phones like that if you want...

Bernard, I have a new, black, ATT Trimline 210 phone I bought for the sim a while back but won't use now as I have an OEM passenger address system handset.  You're more than welcome to it.

Put up some LCD monitors with airport/aircraft graphics playing and the green painted walls will just be a hardly noticed background color... :idiot:

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the continued posts...

-Ray, looking forward to seeing those 3 projectors up and running, along with some videos.

-Bernard, yep definitely know you are full of surprises and we all enjoy when they come.  ;D

-Warren, like the other guys, you're totally on top of it with your sim project. All those years with your job(s) and moving home life has finally paid off for you. Now, it's nothing but sim, sim, simulator...HOORAY!

For all the new members following this thread, take a look at these guys other threads, as well as those of other members, as there is a wealth of information on simulator building. You'll likely find answers to your questions, if not just ask any of them either in a post or PM.

IMHO, Cockpit Builders is the best website for building any simulator. Be it big iron or sleek regional jets, nimble fighters, awesome helicopters or the vast array of amazing propeller driven aircraft, you'll find someone here who has either built it or is building it now. If not, then you can be the first and teach us all...

Last night I replaced the polarized glass in one of my Avidyne PFD units and also started learning CAD using Fusion-360.

Talk about a steep learning curve!

Nah Fusion 360 is easy Ray, Trev told me  ;)  8)

Fusion 360 is very close in design to Solidworks I think Autocad based the interface on it.
Personally I find that Sketchup is easier to use but it's certainly not as flexible as Fusion and some projects would be practically impossible to draw in Sketchup. Well for me anyway. So I'm learning Fusion as well.  8)

I use Solidworks, it is a steep curve but does a great job.
Im using 2014 version that I sort of "had to buy" - i was using a key off the internet and after a while I got a nasty letter from Dassault Systems.  Apparently it calls home whenever it is run. ::)
Basically i had to buy the full version - almost 9k Australian. Lesson Learned!

For quick and easy jobs like for 3D printing i use Fusion 360

Trevor Hale

I use Tinkercad, the learning curve is easy, and I tried Fusion and after about 10 beers I removed it form my pc LOL
