Hey Guys,

From my original post a while back, I am still yet to find the Fire Pull handles for my B1900.

Wondering if any of you with one of your fancy 3D printers and design knowledge could whip some up for me?  If they could be attached to a push/pull switch that would be even better.

Willing to pay, buy beer etc.

Joe.

727s4ever!

What have I done today?  Spent waaaaayyyy too much money on it.  Again.  Can I get a witness?   ;)

Hey Joe,

I can print one for you, but designing it is a different matter. PM Joe Leavey and ask him if he can do the model... My only charge would be a spool of filament and shipping costs to mail the item to you.

Hi Emi,

That's awesome! How about doing a new member introduction post and tell us all about it. Plus, please post some pics...

Hi John, thank you very much for having us. So this is a father son project. My dad was always interested in planes and model railway (HO Märklin) and started building RC planes in his youth...

I made my first flight sim experience with X-Plane v.4.7 , A-10 Cuba, F/A- 18 on a Macintosh Performa 630. Many years later "we" switched over to PC and FS2004 was the coolest thing ever...

The MIP will arrive in the near future. I wlll definitely post some pictures.

John,

Thanks for the offer of printing the fire handles, Ill keep that in mind.  Will pm Joe to see if he would be willing to design something.

I dont have the time myself to try to get this started ( or the software or the printer ) so looking for an off the shelf
purchase solution.

Joe.

Joe Lavery

Hi Joe, that's weird, I'm Joe.  :)

Anyway if you have some images and perhaps an overall dimension (or two) I'll certainly have a crack at drawing one up for you.
I've not seen one for the B1900 so I have no idea what they look like. I have drawn up quite detailed drawing for the 737, which are lying around somewhere.
So it will be a challenge,

Cheers
Joe.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the offer, really appreciate it.  Please let me know how to compensate ( beer, benjamins, etc )

I dont have any official documentation regarding size, but I will grab a couple of pics shortly and post them up ( or pm if you prefer ).  They look pretty straightforward, just a T handle really.

Joe

Hi Joe,

These are some close ups from what I could pull off google images.

Forgot how to insert pictures, they should be attached though.

Joe.

Joe Lavery

They look okay, a couple of questions are they to be illuminated and have you any idea of the shape of those red bits on each end?
Also a rough guide to the size would be great.

If they're to be illuminated they will need to be made our of quite thin filament yet strong enough to be pulled. Are you going to fit them to a solid rod, or should that be part of the handle?
Sorry for all the questions but I've done a lot of designing and it's better to have all the information before you start.
Incidentally I'm away for a couple of days so I'll have a look at all this on Monday
.

The red tip is threaded and is where you can unscrew and change the bulb from I beleive.  I sold a set of these "with the fire pull switches" to Ray, (Real Ones) for his 1900.  they are illuminated.
Nice kit.

Thanks Trev,  perhaps Ray will jump in with a couple of pictures and a dimension or two for me.

I'll send some pics/measurements of the handles and the switch mechanism. I'm surprised at how robust the mechanics are.. but then again.. fire handles!

Look for something here this weekend.

Is the white a somewhat clear color or just a white opaque, same for the red parts? Thinking filaments here...

Well, for the first time since May, my sim is up and running! A few things to fix but not bad for a 6 month hangar.... Pictures soon....

blueskydriver

Hey Bob,

Glad to hear you're back in the air! Now, if only I could get past the yard work to get my sim back up...Karen and I were spreading gravel in the dark last night until 9pm. Our neighbors love us!

Hey Trev,

What type of filament do you suggest; do you have some links?

How much noise can spreading gravel make?  :D You need to get your cockpit back in the air!!

blueskydriver

LOL, well I should've mentioned we were using the skid-steer as well...very noisy  ;D

I agree about my cockpit and I just now got out to the hanger/shed and hope to do something with it...
