I would like to refurbish my Weber seats with new seat covers.  I can't seem to find a good source for sheepskins that would be suitable for my local upholstery to work with to remake the seat covers.

Any leads on a source for gray sheepskins hides?

Hi Mike,

The best and cheapest way is to purchase wool car seat covers and cut to size. You can buy very good quality Australian or New Zealand merino wool seat covers on ebay at descent prices. This is how I recovered my seats almost 6 years ago and they still look really nice.

AWESOME!

Thanks Bjorn, looks like Ikea sells them in Australia too!
Pretty cheap too at $AU 59 :)

Not sure if this is the one... it's Faux, I kind of searched it on another country site but it came up on the US one when I went back (cookie issue?)...

Mike,
These guys actually manufacture the fabric for the seats and also have the different color sheepskins for different manufacturers.
Contact there is Brandon.....nice guy and very helpful.

they also do carpet sets... might not see like much of a big deal but it can be because of the edging.. an auto body body shop etc  can not do that stitching that causes each edge to lay flat flat    good find thank you

The question is what does this company charge for OEM material?

Caflyt

The fabric (according to Brandon) is $39 per linear yard for the honeycomb fabric (light or dark grey).
Not exactly sure about the sheepskin.

For the fabric... that's pretty reasonable!

Thanks for the info.

Do you have an item number for the Ikea stuff?

This is the one I used -  http://www.ikea.com/aa/en/catalog/products/10166467/

These are real skins, the other ones listed in this thread are synthetic ones.

I needed 4 of these for the 2 seats.

These are sourced from Aus/New Zealand just like the ones in genuine covers.
That could explain why not all Ikea areas stock them.

Also the Fabric pricing is correct, I paid $39.95 per lineal yard, and the Boeing honeycomb fabric is called "2041P/74"
There is a minimum order of 4 Lineal yards,  I used only 1 1/2 for a full set of covers, including the backboard and life vest pouches.

Attached is a pic of the new material (top) against the old dirty covers.
