Ok the holidays are over, lets get this thing organised, I have already saved 10 bucks toward this trip...hehehe (yes I am impatient and excited about this)  :idiot:

Does anyone live near the meeting place that can give us some ideas about hotels, touristy stuff etc.

cheers

I usually stay at the Holiday Inn. Next door to FDS and all OK.

Trev:
The idea to sync this with Oskosh has been floated.

What do you think Guys?

Syncing with Oshkosh would make the date around late July? That is the peak period cost for flight tickets, eg with BA that is £851 as opposed to £499 for the same flights in Mid June. A £351 cost increase - I used to fly to Chicago and back for less than that a few years ago.

Just my 2 cents (pennies) - it may only be the UK where they sting you on holiday time travel, also it may be that summer hols time (for those in the northern hemi) may be the only suitable time to travel, if so, then ignore my post :)

Very valid point David.
June would be fine I guess.

Why not run a poll in time slots of 2 weeks and let everyone vote? If the board is not able to run a poll then perhaps ask everyone to state their preferred dates - with a cutoff date of say 3 weeks from the start? Or perhaps we need to be guided by FDS re dates

We should aim to close down the date asap.

I might be able to do the trip but my daughter is getting married on the 14th of July, fingers crossed it's a different date!

I'll be bringing Blueskydriver to this event once you all lock down a date. We'll be driving and it will only take 12 hours or so to get there, it's only 756.89 miles from Wisconsin if we go under the state of Michigan. If we go over the top 879.24 mile— Time: 16:46 h

Either way, it's going to be fun. I'm thinking it will be well worth the trip. This way I get to meet all the "Big Kids" he hangs out with and talks about all the time.  ;D I mean that in a nice way.

Flying in, is out of the question because I like long road trips. I'm sure I'll be doing most of the driving while Blueskydriver sleeps in the back of the van because he doesn't like my driving. What' husband likes his wife's driving anyways? Plus this is easier on him then flying. I don't have to worry about some luggage handler breaking his wheelchair. (we won't go there, not a pretty picture).

I know he had been talking about this and I've been reminding him to get our passports done so give him a nudge for me when you have time.

Thanks everyone.
