Flying tonight on VatSim for the Oscars' Event and realized the party's over! Right after parking at KLAX Gate 110 (from KLAS) and going off to the Lav, a big surprised awaited!

Coming back and we could smell of something burning and thought it was the neighbor's trash burning because as usual he burns doing the day and the smell drifts over here by midnight or so (sooner if the wind is blowing). Nope, it was not that, after looking around the sim room and seeeing nothing, but still smelling the burning smell, we looked in the cockpit and could not see smoke there either.

However, the smell was very strong and the Upper EICAS screen was off, so knowing it had to be the monitor or it's power supply. Thus, I went looking for the flashlight to check the back of the sim. Found the power supply for the EICAS and realized it had to be the problem because it was really hot too the touch. So, conclusion is the power supply has failed... Checked other power supplies around this one and no other issues.

The first words out of my mouth was "LOOKS LIKE THE PARTY IS OVER!" Meaning, we have been flying for so long and not really building/adding on that we forgot about the actual work involved with building and more so, keeping a sim operational. Therefore, the fun times of just flying will have to be grounded until the monitor/power supply is checked/switched out. The major problem is our MIP is not easy to access from the back. The shell has the front bulkhead wall, so any repairs requires rolling out the seat platforms, the yoke and pedals platform and then getting to the back of the MIP.

Moral to the story; don't have to much partying in your sim (especially while hauling virtual actors to the Oscars), don't leave the sim alone as it will smoke (trick) you out of something, don't assume it is the neighbor's trash if you smell something burning, and finally don't forget what it means to build, as well as maintain your sim...

Great Post BSD.  That is one thing to keep in mind and a very good point.  We do a lot of electronics work, and may of the things we do involve combining wood and electricity.  I personally try to never leave my sim unattended and powered up.  Unless of course I am running to the lou etc.

Everyone must be vigilant, I don;t ever want to hear about one of these projects brurning someones home down.

I have to add that the "Party" will be over for BSD for a little bit. I don't want him burning down the house because I need a place to build my F16 Sim...

We are usually very careful but since you can't see everyting behind the Sim, it's easy to forget about all the things behind the panels until something like this happens.

He won't need the lecture from you all since he has me doing that "Face to Face"

Ohhh, see you wern't supposed to find out! LOL.  I would never tell my wife something like that, otherwise I would never hear the end of it..  ha ha ha ha

Well Simlady, why don't you come back to reality and stop calling it 'my F16 Sim'. Do you really, really think that the Sim boy living with you will let you play with it all by yourself and will not try to evict you and take over once he realizes that it is a lot more fun than flying a lumbering 737?  ;D

Maurice.... you are too funny!  ;D

he'll be allowed to use it while I'm at work, but then it's mine.

The funny part will be when he tries to squeeze into it. I only stand at 5 feet 4 inches, when BSD use to stand, he was 6 foot and all legs.  Of course, I have to build it so my short little legs reach the pedals. :) I might also have to make some other modification. He might not be able to fit... darn.

There is always a way around everything.

Maurice

Oh my poor, poor simlady, it pains me so much to hear you are still in denial. Let me paint a better picture of what will likely happen.

First, it will start with simboy taking a quick glance towards her while she is being prepped and still relatively unattractive. Then, as she puts on make-up, he will casually wink at her and show his big arm muscles. Sooner or later, she will start to respond and show off her 'jewellery' (read lighted gauges).

In the meantime, you will be slaving away & prepping her for her big day when she can soar into space. For Pete' sake, do not ask simboy to help you screw anything into her.

Before long, simboy will sneak out in the middle of the night and fondle her knobs. She will slowly respond to his gentle touch and start to blush (her panels will light up). But the touching will soon progress to less innocent manoeuvres. Before long, simboy will slide the key in the ignition & really turn her on. Then he will ram the throttle forward and they will be off as she screams in ecstasy when her afterburners kick in  :fire:

Make no mistake about it, the fact that simboy is a big boy and that she is a tight fit for him will not deter him in any way. Some would say the tighter, the better.

Meanwhile, you will be asleep & oblivious to what's going on (the wife is always the last to know). When you see her in the morning, all her juices will be gone and you will need to re-fuel her but the lady will simply be totally uninterested in your advances.

Unfortunately for you, the best you can hope for will be a ménage-a-trois so you had better build her as a two seater or you will be left out in the cold while the other two frolic & soar in the blue yonder,

But excuse me now. I'm feeling a strong urge to find my wife. Honey... the blue cookie kicked in.

OMG! MAURICE THIS IS THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE EVER READ SINCE BEING A BABY AND LEARNING TO SAY GA GA (or was it boobie)! Good thing I am lying down and reading this on the Ipad; otherwise, I would've fell out of my wheelchair!

Simlady is at work right now, but she is going to so die laughing at this tonight! What's funny is everything you say is or likely will be 100% true, at least from my point of view. Although, I can't wait to see what she says back to you...uh, us...

Maurice... wow... give me a minute to wipe my eyes dry... that was great.

But I have to correct you on a couple of things. I'm not in denial because I never declared my sim as a "Lady" I figured BSD has a wife, it's his B737, I'm the mistress. I need a husband that I can play with, this is how I see it.  ;D

He will come in pieces, like a puzzle that needs to be put together. The texture of the pieces will be ruff and raw around the edges.  As he is carefully and lovingly handled in that gentle way, he will beg for me to connect all his pieces into just the right slots until I am done.

Once assembled to my pleasing, he will be overcome with wetness, a coat of paint. After he has a day or two to recover, while I'm working. I will start to polish his knobs and place them in the correct positions that give me the most satisfaction.

He will be built with all the hardware necessary to keep me satisfied and engaged for hours on end. I will push him to the limits as I open the afterburners and hear him scream with release.  I on the other hand, will be cradled into the tightness of the cockpit and feel the warmth of the panels around me as I sit in my flight suit, dripping wet.

He will only rest when I'm done with him for the night or the weekend. I will build him the way I want according to the mood I'm in at the time and have no second thought about swapping his parts out for new and younger ones as I go.

As for BSD, I don't think we're going to have a problem. I don't think he'll be screwing anything in at this point; I like power tools and have lots of practice. (Just ask him)

Quoting you,  "Unfortunately for you, the best you can hope for will be a ménage-a-trois"...All I have to say is, done that...old news...got it all on tapes... and no,  I don't share my little book of my girlfriends.  ;)

Maurice, thanks for the posting and I hope your wife has a smile on her face and you don't have the after effects of seeing things with a blue tint for long.

BSD, you never said "GA...GA" and still don't.

Maurice

What can I say simlady, I am pretty much speechless.  It looks like you've grabbed the bull by the horns and that you have the situation well in hand despite the overwhelming odds against it.

My sincere congratulations. You may well be on your way to achieving the seemingly impossible....be even more childish & immature than a grown man with his toys. That is quite an achievement as men have millenniums  of experience in that matter.

Well done!
