After a long three years in the making my sim took to the skies this week. It is still about 6 months from finished but our Worldflight team witnessed the first boot up of the new computers and installation of the awesome Prosim737 software this week. The three new PCs were loaded with Prepar3D, Prosim737, FSUIPC, WideFS etc and in about 2 1/2hours we launched the Boeing skywards complete with two fully functioning FDS FMCs, they are so sweet. I wish I hadn't lost the CPFlight gear's power supply!! It was an absolute joy to see the baby Boeing run for the first time, thanks team for all your help! Our November completion deadline certainly looks achievable to me now!!

Congratulations Gwyn !!!

It must be a joy to have your Sim flying now - especially with all the fine workmanship you have put into that project.  If possible, please post more photos and configuration information relating to your setup.  It would be great to see a video as well.

Once again, congratulations on a job well done!

Best Regards,
Mike

Well done Gwyn!

I've been watching your progress closely, and there is no doubt you have done an amazing job getting your sim to this stage!

Happy flying,
Karl

I was flight engineer on Gwyn's inaugural flight and it was sight to behold.  For those who have built a PC from parts and turned it on for the first time to see it boot to Windows you know there's always a sense of amazement at the fact it works!  Same with Gwyn's Boeing Monday night when we saw PFD's responding so readily to my keyboard inputs to P3D.  The problem is now Gwyn has to suffer at work each day before getting back to it and it's killing him!  ;D

Thanks guys, there is no external displays or roof structure as yet so not much to video really. I might make a video of the panel running and our Worldflight team training on Monday night. It certainly is a milestone reached to see the software running. My flight controls are now hooked up and I had a quick 'steer' on instruments last night....it is coming together at last!

I replaced the Facebook video link with the video now on Youtube... I will do a better one when time permits. Last night I got the CPFlight MCP and EFIS units fully operational but managed to knock out two of the Opencockpits radio units. Such is life commissioning a new sim! (USB error code 29) It might be OK next boot up as one of the fixes I read suggests removing the power cable for a couple of minutes - fingers crossed!

Hi All,
After a week long rebuild I have refitted my 737 throttle quadrant to the simulator. It now has backlighting, new paint, improved auto throttle clutches, modified fuel valves and trim indicators. I've installed provision for the trim wheel and speedbrake motors which will be installed later. The speedbrake lever now latches and has to be lifted from it's gate like the real aircraft. The park brake lever is ready for the remote release when the heavy duty solenoid arrives.

Thanks for the status Gwyn,

Your progress is remarkable, and the results are superb!  Your Sim is definitely a work of art and a labor of love.  Wonderful to see that all you do is 1st Class !!!

Keep the photos coming, as they are an inspiration to all.

Hi all, another progress report!
I've just had a solid week in the workshop with some good progress achieved. My MIP is fully completed with everything working correctly, the FDS SYS cards are a joy to use and very easy to configure. Prosim is a 737 cockpit builders dream and equally simple to program. The TQ is fully functional with the exception of hooking up the auto throttles and park brake solenoid. I have the upper roof framework completed with some great assistance from my mate Darren. The eyebrow trims are genuine Boeing units from a 737-300 I think, (thanks again Warren, they are great!) I made the map lights by modifying a pair of cheap LED torches, they are now fitted with 12V incandescent globes to be dimmable. Another friend and Worldflight crew member Thomas has been working on my overhead panel for about 4 weeks and it is now fully wired and ready to fit into the roof frame as a plug'n'play unit. What a great job he has done, it looks fantastic with all the annunciators on test. It is fitted with two FDS SYSX cards, 5 servo driven gauges and driver boards from OpenCockpits, a 7 inch LCD monitor for displaying values on the electrical panel and my own hardware from a very busy CNC machine! Side wall frames next...
