Things I think about....

With the sad departure of Mr. Allensworth, I've been pondering my own mortality (Not getting any younger here...)

More specifically, what will be the disposition of our beloved flight decks.... I imagine some, if not most will probably be sold off/parted out by grieving spouses who would love nothing more in life than to roll back time to have one more flight with his or her significant other.

Some things that could happen:

1. Sold for parts by a spouse that doesn't quite understand the value of what each part is
2. Donated to a flight museum or local flight school (Would love for this to happen to mine)
3. Handed down to another family member
4. Enshrined

Anyone else have input on this topic?

Just talked about that a couple of weeks ago with my son.  He would get it so I have been starting to teach him more of the inner workings of the Sim. :)

Things to think about really... even though they really are talking about something we don't really want to talk about.

Reminds me once I browsing in my local Goodwill store when I was in University (I liked retro t-shirts) and I came across what had to be 30 or so Hard Rock Cafe t-shirts.

No doubt this was someone's proud collection once, maybe the person got one every place he/she traveled.  Then for whatever reason it was relegated to the dollar rack at Goodwill...  at least it was helping the community in the end.

Actually guys. To be honest I had this chat with my wife not too long ago.

I instructed her to get a hold of a computer. Get on here and Message Bob and he will help her as I am sure most of you will be happy to get rid of me and my crap. Lol

I'm fairly certain my first FDS Signature MIP panels I bought on eBay were the results of a death.  I got a great deal.

Having dealt with the aftermath of premature death in my line of work, I would advise all of you to specify exactly what you want done with your sim in a will.  You would be amazed at the issues that stem from people relying on NOK to divy up estates.

While a sim may be nothing more than a yoke and rudders with an extra monitor to some, others have tens of thousands invested in their sims.

I have willed my sim to my daughter and given her instructions on how to log in to cockpitbuilders to request assistance in selling it off.

While I don't contemplate it, my thought is once I'm gone, it doesn't really affect me and the best thing is to streamline the process for my kids.

Truly spoken words ...

My son turns 16 years old in a few weeks! He seems to be very interested in this great hobby. He is well informed of the tremendous work and lot of money spent in my dream so far. My hope is, that he either keeps the sim, or sell it to our fellow community members ... one day ... hopefully far away!

It's the old story of: One day son, this will all be yours  :'(

some things you just don't want to think about but some times you have to.
My favorite plane of all time is the Cessna Grand Caravan 208b!

I think I would have equal shares offered to my Worldflight Crew so they can keep going! My crew rocks, a great bunch of guys!! I certainly wouldn't want it dismantled for parts.
